I just bought the K&C Life of Jesus series and am so impressed...

they really did a marvelous job on these figures...the sculpting...painting and especially the sturdiness of these figures is really impressive...very heavy and very solid figures...

I had bought "The Animals" set LOJ004 some time ago to use with JJD's FIW figures and decided to get the rest of the series to use with my K&C Knights and Saracens collection...

I bought all these colorful Arabic figures and have become so enamored with them that I'm hopeing this series has a little more room to proceed...

I'm hopeing K&C might still issue some more figures that might work in a "market scene"...maybe of Arabs conversing or in plain idle poses...

I did not purchase LOJ001...The Holy Family...or LOJ008...Jesus's Parents...as I never intended to do a birth of Jesus diorama or a Christmas manger scene...but I may go ahead and get them too...

I'm in the process of building a small simple diorama of a village market vending scene...these figures look ideal for what I have in mind...

does anybody else collect these really nice figures...

Congratulations on your new acquistions Michael!!

I had strongly considered getting in on the line as well but things are just too expensive all around these days so I ultimately passed. They are very beautiful and evocative sets. I still think the $49 camels are the best deals in the KC Catalog.

Imposing line to jump on though from a design standpoint. Guess ACN and the crew would have to explain any historical innaccuracies to St. Peter prior to admission to the only "Collector's Club" that matters. {sm4}

These figures, along with your crusaders, will really make your house quite colorful.

I must admit I was a bit surprised when I heard K&C doing the LoJ series but the items have proven to be very useful in different ranges and Mikes purchase proves this point. The camels have been very popular.
Regards
Brett

I must admit I was drawn to these when they were first released. I think they would also work very well with those collecting the NiE series.

Hi Michael,

Coingratulations on your newest acquisitions. I've bought quite a few of these myself, as well as the standing and lying camels, to add to my Crusades diorama. The figures are really nice and they tie in perfectly with the Crusades line. I love your idea of making a dio of a market scene and look forward to seeing your images when you post them. I always enjoy viewing your dios.

Thanks for the POST.

I have been fence sitting on some of those for a while. (Starting to get sore.)

I was wondering if they would go with the AK series or would they be a little to colorful or would the costumes be some what out of place. I am generally pretty liberal with mix-n-match of series, but for example, would the LoJ003 vendors work with AK sets, as well as the camels and animals?

Imagine a dio where the whole AK convoy is held up by the cow and the donkey in the middle of the street!!!!!:rolleyes2:

Anyone try these LoJ with AKs yet? -- Thanks

Michael,

Did you get the Arab Guide? I love this guy. He is actually meant for the Napolian in Egypt series. Look carefully at the three items in his belt. I used a magnifier and I could swear that thing on the left is a flintlock pistol, but you can't really tell without very close scrutiny, so in my opinion, the guy still fits well into the era of the Crusades.

I could definitely see a blocked roadway with sheep and goats and a couple of the herders trying to move them off the road.

Chris...that's a valid statement...the camels are "big bang" for their bucks...

Larry...that really is a good idea for a diorama...I like when they tell a little story...

George...thanks for turing me onto NE002...I never would have found him without your comment...I'm going to order him...he looks like he will blend very well with the Arabs from LOJ...

Not near finished...in fact barely started...but I want to do a little market scene...I have about 20 Middle Eastern jugs and thought I would have a guy selling off his doorsteps...I have not drybrushed or highlighted this structure yet...so it looks pretty darn plain...even boring in that beige color...you know...they really pop when you highlight them...but here's a peek of what I'm trying to do...I want to make another building to stand next to this one...and just have the Arabs and herders milling around like it's a market square...I made a canvas awning for the cover of his porch shop...but I hate the fabric (a dishrag...lol) I picked and will have to scrounge up something more suitable...the green looks ugly...lol...but I'll find something better...if not...I'll give it a wooden awning and shutters like K&C did on some of their Middle Eastern structures...I do like the weatherd wood...

here's a better pic of the beams blended into the wall of the house...it still needs a good dry brushing to make it pop a little bit...it's still a long way from being finished...

I see you've been very busy my friend working on the new diorama we spoke about featuring your newly acquire figures which you shared with me. Once again another gem from the creative mind of MMiller{bravo}}

I've been working on a little market place scene...just two buildings really...buildings are not dry brush detailed yet...but they are built...I wanna do a small brick wall surrounding the perimeter...throw a vendor in the booth...probably vases and jugs...people milling around the front...camels in the back...goat herders...blah...blah...blah...you get the idea...here's what I got so far...

Fantastic work Mike! Your perfectly detailed and painted woodwork really makes the well designed and executed structures POP!! Thanks for sharing. I'm quite impressed.

Scott...

hahahaha...

the dome is definitely of Muslim origin...Andy made some pretty dark bearded Jews for the LOJ series...lol...I intended to use them as Arabs...

look at them...do you think they'll pass...they look pretty Arabic...I didn't buy the Jesus set or Joseph and Mary set...

but after you said that...I feel like ripping the dome off...lol...

you think these guys would pass for Arabs...

if not...tell me the truth before I go any further...

100_0704.jpg

I don't think I'm going to change it...this type of architect on the roof doesn't look to be exclusive to the Arabic communities...apparently the dome was also used in the community of Isreal...

but don't be surprised if it's gone next time you see it...^&confuse...

Scott...thanks for pointing it out before I went much farther...it's better to correct it now than to try to re-do it after I'm finished...

also the more I look at the figures from LOJ...the less Arabic they look...except for set LOJ003...which are the mysterious 3 Wise Men from the East...

The hills of Tzfat and Meron are covered in holy kevorim (tombs) of generations of tzaddikim of Israel. Our friend Reb Dovid of DAF Studios Israel (top quality photography for all types of events and simchas – 054 971 7859) took a trip up north and shares some of his pictures with us…

Near Havakuk HaNavi (Habbakkuk the biblical prophet), down the side of the mountain after a twist and a turn are a few small ancient blue domed buildings (blue domes are a sign of a holy kever around Tzfat)…
