K&C Paint Chipping/Peeling (1 Viewer)

Like others, no complaints in that area.

I never had problems with chipping or peeling . Not with K&C nor with any other TS manufacturer. The only time it happened is when I dropped a soldier on my desk. Rifle was bent. When I tried to straighten it the paint chipped off . But rapidly repaired . No problem;

Interesting thoughts and it's great to hear that the majority have not had issues with their K&C figures. I can completely understand paint chipping if the figure is dropped but I was more concerned with peeling paint on a new figure. Storage is also my concern if I ever choose to box items up and place in a hot/cold garage or attic. I suppose this is not a good idea. I've been displaying my pieces in a closed cabinet to keep off the dust but as a new collector, these things are really good to know. Appreciate all of you taking time to share your experiences with K&C - thanks much.

Generally speaking, you shouldn't place a figure exposed to extremes in temperature, if you can help it. Empty boxes are a different story; those I have in the attic. I have, unfortunately, a lot of things stored in boxes and they have come through fine; boxed figures I keep in the basement. If you're going to keep them stored, don't have the figures stored in bubble wrap. That could damage them. Probably tissue paper is best.

Unrelated to boxes, but I've had the Arnhem 44 sets which are possibly the oldest matt sets there are, but I also have a WSS10 and WS16 and the paint is still in perfect condition, if not slightly faded maybe, but they have been in different display cases for maybe 5 years and the paint has never flaked at all. During the winter months in scotland the temperature can drop rapidly at night from maybe decent to very cold, and during the summer (last year for example) it was very humid (which I hate) but the weather in scotland is a whole new thread altogether, anyways I've never had a problem with king and country models' paint!^&grin

I forgot to add that at one time I owned lots of K&C. So having an issue with one set out of hundreds is a pretty good track record. I also wouldn't display my figures where sunlight can hit them directly. I also stay away from fluorescent, halogen, xenon, and incandescent lights in display cabinets. LED's are the way to go.
