Can anyone give a reason why K&C figures are failing to retain their value and indeed are being sold for a lot less on ebay whilst William Britains are increasing in value within a very short time frame. The WB figures seem to be way to go if you are both a collector and looking for future investment especially the AZW range.

For instance, I recently purchased two Modelzone exclsuive figures of Lt Coghill for £200 and sold the spare one for £155 straight away even though it is still available. However, I can't shift my 17th lancer for love nor money an no one is biting even at £45.

Why is this?

It depends on the series, how old it is and who out there at the time wants it. Try putting up a retired D-Day set or a German ss set from 2007 or earlier and you will make out like a bandit....Most of the time. The last 2 Russian T-34 tanks RA013 that I bid on and lost went for $298.00 and $328.00 for each. The original retail on these was $99.00 ! Retired WWII especially earlier items usually do quite well :smile2:

Oh yeah, this thread should ignite fireworks like those seen on July 4th. {sm4}

Hey Islandwanna- I am not really sure but would venture to guess the PanzerAce1944's *****sment is pretty accurate- simply supply and demand. I don't really know what the demand is for some of Britains figures you mention but sounds like they are highly desirable.

I have a smaller KC Egyptian collection yet I would venture to guess it would go for more money than my KC WW2 stuff- and that includes my 2000/2001 releases- go figure :)

I haven't really noticed that with W.B figures /sets but I guess it depends what the item is. I hope this thread doesn't turn into anything more then this.

I noticed some of the limited release WB Zulu items went for mega money on eBay over the weekend.
I have got to say that I was shocked by the prices.
But they are sold out everywhere and you just can't buy them anywhere other than eBay so that is why they demand the high prices.
I had a lot of problems trying to buy the sold out limited series CS Polish Lancers for the same reason.
I suppose the same applies to any sold out K&C item that isn't available anywhere else.
Having said that there are lots of WB limited series French Lancers on eBay which just don't seem to be selling even at the list price.

It's not about the manufacturer it is just supply and demand.

I'm just interested, nothing more sinister. I buy two of everything and I've cashed in on my spare WB Zulu range over the last few weeks. I began collecting the Crimea figures thinking it would be a popular range but it doesn't appear to be as desirable as I first thought judging on what I've seen.

Today there are many TS manufacturers and TS products from which to choose....Increased Competition....No longer a captive audience.....Poor and uncertain economy and rising retail prices reduce profit margins on secondary markets ....Secondary Market Prices reflect these facts.

The Crimean is a nice range... but.... something I wish I would not have gotten into; especially as it seems to be a dead end....No longer being produced

mario

I have tracked the the top 3 or 4 TS vendors for a few years in my trusty Excel. There is alwasy a up/down over a short time for all the catagories within each vendor, but the over all trend has been up, up and up for all of them.

Anyone can probably cite a multitude of factors, mostly now the ecomomy is not the most stable. Some guys cash in for kid's college or a new car. But Up or Down where else can you have so much fun with your "investment"!!
