First off let me say I have bought everyone of K&C's Vietnam series, my favorite and all excellently done. Now to all my Aussie friends I do not mean to get you angry. But if one did not know better and used K&C issueing of products one would think Australia carried a big load in the Vietnam War. I totally understand Andy catering to his Australian customers, great business decision. But in reality there were 500 Australians killed in Vietnam compared to 58000+ of U.S. servicemen. What caused me to post this with my last order I got a K&C booklet which states coming soon an Australian APC (armoured personel carrier) and a Australian centurian tank. I would have hoped the U.S. would have been covered first when it comes to Vietnam armour. And to Andy keep this series going, I can't get enough. More U.S. tho!

I don’t think Toy Soldiers are made in proportion to National casualties suffered.

Vietnam is an interesting era. Many countries involved.

Undoubtably, the US suffered dreadful casualties. We all acknowledge that.

However toy soldier collectors want to represent all aspects of the conflict, their weapons and uniform.

It’s the variety that’s appealing.

Personally, I very much welcome the Australian figures for their variety.

I’d also like to see British SAS, and French colonial....

If that is the case, then what about the South Koreans. Outside of the United States they had the most troops in Vietnam (approximately 50,000) and the most deaths (5,000).

Yes, that’s true.

An awful loss.

But from a Toy Soldier perspective, South Korea were US backed with US supplies and uniforms, and so would offer little variety to the Toy Soldier collector in terms of uniforms and weapons.

I think this series is only in it's infancy with US forces having had a good number of releases. Now we are seeing more Aussie figures released and some vehicles coming in the future. I'm sure there will be significantly more US vehicles and figures to come. With your comments about casualties, not sure about proportions but too many for both sides for what was achieved. Regards Sapper.

I agree with Gary

BUT, why either or; why not both and throw in a M48 Patton tank to boot?

Just a thought

I'm sure a US M113 won't be far off, maybe an Israeli version as well. I would like to see an Aussie version of the new Huey, looks like a US chopper will be issued first.

I'd guess that though the Australian version of the M113 is coming out first and a bit later an Aussie Centurion, I assume from previous threads an IDF ones will follow at a later date. And I'm sure K&C will not miss the opportunity to release M113's for the US Army.
But at the moment as was mentioned by Andy in another thread at present with this new line K&C is concentrating first on the US Marines in Hue during Tet and Australians in Vietnam, though a US Army M42 Duster will be here soon enough !
The range after all had to start somewhere !:smile2:

With the release of the Embassy MP's, figures for Saigon, I would think these will also be expanded upon along with ARVN and civilian figures already in pipeline.

US Army figures and vehicles are bound to be coming. Who'll appear first who knows. Perhaps it'll be the AirCav as with a Huey being previewed I should imagine there will be different versions as with TCS.

I'm sure with all the Vietnam Vets out there they'd all like to see their old unit showcased with it be Big Red one, 25th Inf Div, 101st Airborne.
No surprise Andy did USMC first since he himself had been a Royal Marine.

As being said range has only just begun, so we need to be patient !

Just think what it must be like for us New Zealanders, not even a mention about our role in Vietnam.
161 Battery saved the Australians at Long Tan in 68.
Our SAS killled so many gooks that they put a bounty on their heads.
We lost 32 in Vietnam, may not seem much, however everyone was a volunteer, unlike most of the Australians who were conscripts.
Just like Galliploli, no New Zealanders.
Well done King and Country, once again we have been totally shafted.
Brigadiers don't forget.

Colonel Sir,
When Andy was down in Melbourne in July, I gave him a book titled, "Gunners Vietnam 67-68" which was full of coloured photos of the 106 Battery RAA and I mentioned that he already had produced the M2A2 105mm Howitzer in the BBA range so adding an Arty crew either Aussie or Kiwi would be easy. After all it was very hard to see the difference in uniform between Aussies and our Kiwi cousins. At Long Tan we give thanks to Captain Maury Stanley the FOO who along with his two Kiwi Radio Operators controlled the Arty Fire during the heat of battle. However the Arty fire was from 1st Field Regiment made up of 103 Bty, 105 Bty (Aussie) and 161 Bty (RNZA), 3,198 rounds expended, was very much appreciated by the diggers on the ground. Thanks also must be give to the U.S. 155mm Battery which expended 242 rounds to assist. Kiwi infantry as part of the ANZAC Battalion also gave great support to the war efforts in Phuos Tuy Province. I for one never take for granted the bond between Aussie and Kiwi.

I think, therefore, the use of the term "totally shafted" is a bit over the top, good sir.

Cheers from the Land of OZ, Howard

Thanks for that information Howard and I don't begrudge the Kiwi collector's feeling left out. I'm sure Andy won't forget them. They are the one country I would have liked to be standing beside in time of conflict. None tougher or braver then the New Zealanders. Looking forward to seeing that diorama you are talking about. Regards Greg.

I hope people don't forget the ARVN - they paid the biggest price of all and deserve to be remembered.

Surely coverage of US armour is already underway. First and ONTOS, soon to be joined by the superb looking M42 "Duster".
