I've been collecting K&C for a while... Just discovered Honour Bound.... How do their tanks and figures compare to each of.... size, figures, quality of finish.. any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Pugio, welcome to the forum. I collect both K&C and Honour Bound, along with Britains, Figarti, New Model Army, John Jenkins, Forces of Valor and a few others.

Honour Bound is the same scale as K&C (1/30). They are a newer company than K&C and started out of the blocks with some of the best detailing offered today. They are offering tanks, as other typical manufacturers do; but, then they have begun to offer unique items, like the kitchen and the Soviet captured panther. They have a more dull paint appearance but that's ok because they look real.

I like them. I have purchase six of their models (still want to get the kitchen, waiting for the field gray version) so far and I recommend that you at least find one in a store somewhere and take a look at it, or, take a chance and buy one.

K and C figures are a little better but Honour Bound has made great strides in the figures. Quality is top notch, great detailing and their sculpting is very imaginative. You can't go wrong purchasing either K & C or Honour Bound.

Figarti is not 1/30 scale but their tanks are very good and they are very innovative. Would recommend one of their Stuarts. Although I principally collect K & C, I have the two British Honeys Figarti has made. Great tanks.

I would say that both K&C and Honour Bound are excellent, with a slight edge to Honour Bound on vehicles, and an edge to K&C on figures.

Figarti makes by far the best vehicles, but there figures leave much to be desired. Figarti figures, at 1/32 scale, are a little too small to display with K&C or Honour Bound's 1/30 scale figures, but a comparison of the size of the Figarti Tiger with the K&C winter Tiger shows that the Figarti tiger will work with K&C figures.

If I were to grade them, this is how I see it:

K&C: Figures A+, Diorama Materials A+, Tracked Vehicles A-, Wheeled Vehicles A.

Honour Bound: Figures A, Tracked Vehicles A, Wheeled Vehicles A.

Figarti: Figures B-/C+, Tracked Vehicles AAA+++, Wheeled Vehicles A+, Diorama Materials A-/A.

Basically, you can't go wrong with any of these companies.

I would say watch this space and see how it goes as everyone is raising their game. :)

I only collected K&C but think that Honour Bound stole a march on vehicle quality with their Barkmann Panthers (compared say to the normandy panther) and winter panther, there is no comparison with the old KC winter panther for example, but NB that was from some years ago.

I actually like the HB figures very much as well but they are a different style, the winter panther crew for example are the best I have seen (love the furry hat). Generally though I agree with Louis that KC figures are usually better, but......perhaps just different style for the tank crews (see my pics in the photo album for comparisons as they are set out together.:)

Not seen the kitchens or Bergepanthers yet as they are due to arrive in the next few days but plenty of rave reviews there. I believe if Andy wanted to make a horse drawn peice, it would be at least competitive looking at KC cavalry generally? Hard to say as none produced yet?

Big however, however - Andy has just replied to the challenge with the new flakpanzer etc (love it) and the game is on. Also, KC wheeled vehicles remain the best in my opinion, e.g. dingo but I still think the HB line look a tad more realistic.....and they don't make any wheeled vehicles yet. Let's see the GPA?

I am not planning to collect Figarti yet, sorry Rick, due to the scale more than the quality. Might change my mind at the London show, did last year after which I ordered the 8th army honey and crew.

Still undecided on NMA, sorry Blake, but have still bought a lot!

BTW should declare that my son Tom is now the UK dealer for HB:eek: , we like them that much, but I hope you see this as my honest opinion as a collector.

Pugio,

I would have to agree with all the comments above. I think each of the three main companies compliment each other, I don't own any Figarti (will have a look in London). The HB tanks are probably the best, the Bergepanther (I have the autumn one) being my favourite vehicle at the moment, with the K&C British Patrol being the best infantry.

I have a ruined city diorama which includes numerous K&C SS infantry, a NMA Mortar, K&C King Tiger and a NMA Sturmtiger and it works very well. You would never guess that the two vehicles are from different companies.

All in all, I don't think you can go very wrong with mixing NMA, K&C and HB. The Winter riders on the HB Winter Panther go very well especially on a JG Minatures terrain diorama.

Rgds

Andy
