I read more stuff on these being used to correct the flight issues than being a kamikaze aircraft. Not seen much in Luftwaffe sources that called for any volunteers for such missions. I did read an excellent Luftwaffe letter from test pilots to HG's office which, stated in no uncertain terms these were deaths traps and suicidal to fly and, that no further tests should be done with valuable combat pilots.

Does anyone actually know if more V1 or such are to be made or, was it all rumour?

I think your right about them being more used for testing than kamikaze planes but think I read that a top Luftwaffe night fighter ace set up a squadron to ram B17 with fw 190

Saw a doc on Fox where Me109's were used to ram B17......the pilot bailed out after the hit...one Me109 for one B17.....did not last long...would have thought a good 109 pilot could have scored at least two B17's and still have his aircraft....TomB

You are right about the squadrons I know Galland, for one, was vocally against such actions but, the kamikaze jets are just a myth which, is being perpetuated by the mail and, its silly research and reporting but, it is the mail!! Its hard to comprehend that such a programme would be initiated at the same time they were putting online the 262, and a variety of other jet fighters which, were far superior to allied aircraft at the time.

I think your right mate , the problem at the end of the war for German was not lack of planes but lack of experience pilot but the attack on the Allied airfield on the 1 jan 1945 did not help as well where a lot of pilots were lost
