Yesterday Ken and Richard Walker met with the business that does their castings for them. The meeting was longer than anticipated and Richard had to return to Iowa without having a chance to visit my home - he is his sons soccer coach and had to return for a game
. However, Ken and Ericka accepted an invitation from my wife and I to join us for a cookout on our patio
. The menu for the evening was; tortila chips w/salsa and fresh watermelon juice cocktails for starters; porterhouse steaks, assorted grilled vegetables, and red skinned potatoes in a butter-parsley sauce with white and red wine for the main course; death by chocolate cake garnished with fresh red raspberries for desert; relaxing in my man cave for after dinner entertainment
. It was a great evening to say the least. Ken and I talked "toy soldiers" and envisioned all the possibilities of my diorama, while Ericka and her colleague Sandra visited with my wife Lynn while enjoying my collections also. It was a great week for me and one that I will never forget. Great food, Great conversation, and most of all Great company.
Ericka and Sandra finished their research project a day early so she and Ken have decided to head back to Michigan today. They are going to take it slow and are planning to visit some historical sites in Wisconsin as they work their way back to their home. Alas, this means Ken won't get to come to the house to play today. As this adventure comes to an end I would like to say thank you very much Ken for a great experience, and thank you Ericka for allowing Ken to play at my house.
