Isn't that what we all are???

Seriously, most of you have seen my little man from time to time with various toy soldiers and Junkers 88's !

That said, wanted to share something that has me cracking up and proud at the same time. My little guy has wanted to be a guitarist since he could walk and has banged through 2 acousticals over the last 5 years. This year for early Holiday, we took him to a guitar teacher to see if he was ready. Sure enough she said yes, but recommended electric b/c more fun and easier for little hands to play.

So we set out getting a guitar and I showed him all of the "pee wee" well lo and behold he picks out a Les Paul Bullseye that was made famous by Zakk Wylde (Ozzy guitarist) which of course being the generation I am< I grew up with Ozzy. So that cracked me up.

But the best was last night watching him practice guitar and banging out Black Sabbath's Iron Man and Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water and singing all the way too. Reminded me of when I was 6 screaming out Iron Man. I can't believe he actually likes that music, just too funny.

Anyhow, thought I would share something interesting instead of toy soldier wars!

Tom,

That's pretty cool. Did you wind up getting him Zak's guitar or something else?

How's he doing with those bar chords :D Hope he does scales everyday (are they pentatonic?). That's what my teacher tells me.

Now is the right time to learn. When you're an adult it's not easy but I do my scales every day, well almost anyway. I missed Tuesday and Wednesday so when I get home I have to make up for those two days. One of the songs I like to practice on is Iron Man. Also currently working on Day Tripper.

One of my goals is to become a blues player. I've got a cd of backing tracks. Could make you a copy for him if you like.

Rock on!

That's pretty fliipin sweet Tom- that kid must have an IQ off the charts- that stuff isn't for everyone, least of all 5 year olds.

Tom mate,
Loved every minute of your post.:):) Made me want to climb into the attic and blow the dust off the drum kit.:D I wish your young bloke the greatest of success. Have a great Christmas cobber.
Cheers Howard

Actually that's a good age when to get kids going on a guitar. I've been at Guitar Center and seen kids under 10 playin' their guts out. It's jaw dropping.

Oh I agree 1000000%, thing is, most can't do it- very impressed here on my end.

Brad, he got the Zakk Pack, so yes, Zakks mini!

He works on his chords as those are the toughest, but it is amazing how fast he goes from not being able to play any to remembering them and doing it.

As an adult, it takes me longer as I am learning through him!

I hope he sticks with it and am encouraged thus far!
