Brad:

Incase anyone hasen't told you, its nice that you keep an eye out for the

Forum members!

Perhaps we should refer to you as Haweye!!!

By the way, this series has gone for hundreds and hundreds of dollars lately, with buildings $100 and up so this could be a nice deal for somebody if it doesn't go crazy.

Geez, someone should have picked it up.

Njja:)

I was seriously toying with the idea and whilst I was thinking about it, someone stuck a bid on it, knocking out the BIN option. Ah well.

See what I mean.....but don't feel to bad it has happened to most of us.

I have found items, to good to be true, and while doing a little research had

them grabbed right in front of me!

But it works both ways, one day at a flea market I picked up a Lionel 700E

Tender, and the boxes for a 700E for $50 as I was walking away with my

prizes another fellow came running up yelling to the seller I'll take that tender,

hey......I'll take that tender and the boxes..........sorry gone!

As Tuco said......"When you have to shoot...shoot....don't talk about it"

Njja:) :) :)

This one got removed for some reason. I think ebay must have pulled it, as it has dissappeared from my watch list altogether. Shame. :(

Someone may have made them an offer they could not refuse. Picture horse head here. :)

I noticed that yesterday but I would have thought that if it was "no longer for sale" that the listing would still show up with that moniker.

Hmmm. Devious goings on in ebay world. Last time I checked (before the listing was vapourised), it was only running at about £62 for the 6 pieces, with less than 24 hours to go.

Nice people, had a problem with the original listing. They were selling items

from fathers collection. The village was all that was left.

I noted that these sets originally retailed at 60 pound each, meaning the six sets listed on eBay would have had to achieve 360 pounds as a break even. In effect this "investment" resulted in a loss of 100 pounds without any opportunity cost being taken into account.

Which is why I always recommend that people don't get carried away with "investing" in King & Country products. Just buy what you like as they say, it is only a hobby afterall.

Collecting for investment is risky enough when you pay the retail price, but what is even more risky is paying BIG money for items that have been recently retired.

For goodness sake, most retirements are because the piece hasn't been a good seller, so why do people pay more than the RRP. It must be good to have so much money you don't bother to buy the items you like when they are cheaper

It makes much more sense to support forums like these and buy more current King & Country sets from dealers rather than overpaying for recently retired stuff from eBay sellers.

Nice people, nice items, hope someone is happy with purchase.

I don't get what the brouhaha about these buildings are about. The six buildings originally cost $284 and they were sold for around $500. That doesn't sound like a bad return to me and not a bad deal for the buyer because he got them cheaper for what they sell separately on ebay. Seems like a win win for everybody. Isn't that what's it all about? Am I missing something? Also, John noted it was from the father's collection. I'm assuming that he either lost interest in the collection or may have passed away. So, it's hardly an investment situation.

Very true, my comments were meant to address the concerns a few people

had because the original auction was canceled.

I happened to send a message reguarding shipping to the US. I got a lovely

response from the folks, and they gave me a little history of the collection.

I was busy and missed the auction, but sent them a note on their sucess.

They responded and thanked me and were just very nice folks.

John,

I wasn't referring to your comments. This is a very nice series and I'm quite happy I've got them. In fact, you sold me one and a month or so later in Chicago I found the two missing. So, thanks again.
