Some nice improvements. The top seller list, online collector's club membership, and the pictures of the figures are larger.

But are we not all a work-in-progress.:)

I enjoy the new site very much. It is good to see what is the best seller and to have all the other information provided in a much easier to find format. With high speed DSL it still takes a few seconds more than other sites to load on to my computer, I guess I have become very spoiled ... I keep telling myself to remember that dial-up was not that long ago.

I think the News and Views section will be very informative, if they keep it up to date and don't do as other sites have done and forget about it for months at a time.

The displays section is much better with larger photos that are easier to copy and save in my hard drive.;)

Some of you guys don't know what slow downloads are. Try it using a Apple IIe, putting phone hand set in cradle. That was fast for its day. I still have the thing and it runs well. Did not have hard drive at first. The first one I got was in June 1984 30 Meg $899.00.
That would have got you a lot Toy Soldiers back then.

Chuck, I know exactly what you mean. In 1981 at Engineering Systems School, Great Lakes Naval Training Center, in the Curriculum Instructional Standards Division we used Commador 64's and Apple IIe's. Used Vis-a-calc and Vis-a-file on 5 and 1/2 inch floppy dics with the memory on one disc and the program on another. Had to constantly shift disc's as we entered test validation information for the 85 technical training courses offered. Talk about slow. Repeated attempts were needed to transfer information from Great Lakes to Millington TN (ComNavTra). Used to take hours just to send one small file.

What is the new KC web address?

I still have the old KC web address and it seems to be working well.

I still have my slide rule back then it was faster than a computer back then. They closed Navy Memphis (Millington ComNavTra) down moved it to Pensacola, FL. The Office Of Naval Personal is there now. Moved that from New York. It does not take up as much space as the old O-Club.

Looks like there are a few bugs to be worked out on the new website. I was checking it out and I saw all the dealer prices for the Alamo figures.

Can you give us an idea? I am convinced that there is a minimum of 40% profit on each set (and I mean a minimum).

Pierre.

I have a bunch of dealer price lists from the mid to late 1990's. Back than it was about a 50% markup. I doubt that has changed very much.

Finally,

I can sign up for the KC "Online Collectors Club" online instead of via FAX.

I would be careful about doing that because it doesn't appear to be a secure site.

I don't know about K&C, but I would guess that most are 40 or 50% off list. In the latter case, that would be a 100% mark-up. However, that is more than fair given the expenses involved and the dealer's need to make a profit.
