I can help with the formatting.

Pierre.

Great! Can you free up some time in late July? We may have a few hundred photos to format into a few hundred pages of text. I think we can include photos of all but maybe 5 or 6 figures, every wood, metal, resin and polystone vehicle, just about every building/diorama piece and about 75 of the aircraft K&C produced. Not to mention the fact that, assuming we are photographing every set individually, we may need to cut some of the detailed descriptions from the text to shorten it up. Wouldn't it be great if we had a completed computer version of the book that could be displayed on my laptop at the Chicago Show?

By the way, I have a brand new color scanner, and no idea how to use it. Does anybody know how to use one of these things? If so, we can scan all of my and Brad's old flyers and insert them into the book as an appendix.

Why am I not living in New York City?

We could meet regularly and I would have my arguments with Brad face to face :):):)

I will see how we could manage the work done.

Pierre.

Kevin is planning to come from July 24th through August 1st. Pierre sent me a sample of formatting text with photos that looks great. Looks like we are back in business. Those of you who want to join in the fun, plan accordingly.

I just sent Andy an e-mail filling him in on the game plan, and asking him for some guidance on how he would like us to approach the book (i.e. go all out for a two volume high quality book with individual photos of each set, or be more economical with a limited number or select photographs).

Once I hear from Andy, I have to make sure Hans and Larry are available during the target period to dot all the "I's" and cross all the "T's" on the editting process with us.

Just a wish: I would like to see individual photos of each set.

Pierre.

I too would prefer pictures of all the sets. It doesn't matter how many books we have to Buy. I just want to get my hands on them. Thank-you for all the long hours you have put into this project, that will never end. :D

Jeff

I would also prefer to do this book with photographs of every set, but as Andy is arranging the publication, he has to have the last say on the matter.

Now, I'm a little confused. I thought the whole idea was to have photos of everything K & C has put out to help guide collectors. Through the use of the brochures that I have and from Bill's site, I've been able to identify a good portion of the glossy but if I didn't have you to ask, forget it, I'd have been lost.

Hi Guys,

This sounds like massive undertaking! The text alone must be several hundred pages. I would love to help but I am stuck on the west coast because I've done text and picture editing too with the right computer it should go well. How many pages do you think it will be? I also hope the cost isn't in the hundreds of dollars like Opie's Britains book. Good luck on this project.

All the best

Dave

Dear Louis,

If Andy is talking to publishers in China, he should ask them whether they want the book already formated. I once spent weeks formatting an immigration law handbook, only to be told publisher wanted unformated text with the pictures or graphics separate since their own software provided the formatting.:)

Louis,

I'm not an expert, but I work with scanners all the time. I live in New Jersey and work in New York. Would love to part of the operation. Jim

Terrific Jim, can you set some time aside between July 24th and August 1st? I have a pretty extensive collection of the old brochures, as does Brad, and I would like to add them as an appendix to the book.

It would be a heck of a lot easier if they didn't need it formatted, and we could just forward the text and the photos. When Andy responds to my e-mail, maybe he'll know.

Each of the eight chapters is between 50-200 pages of unformatted double spaced text in a word document. Doing the research and drafting the chapters took on average 20-40 hours per chapter.

The weekend of the 28th and 29th is completely open.

Great Jim. Hans and Larry are on board, Brad has been trying to get some more brochures for us to scan, Evilchuck is planning on coming by. You know, we may have to call July 24th through August 1 the first annual K&C Book Symposium!

I've got inquiries out to a couple of people to see what we can get.

Shaping up to be an event. I am looking forward to it.
