KING & COUNTRY Dispatches -- April 2020 (1 Viewer)

A bit of happiness in these depressing times ... K&C is up and running (or maybe troting) but still a positive sign.

Nothing for me this month :redface2: ... BUT ... would love to see the VN070 series turned into another (Camouflaged) set of 4 - USMC WWII Pacific.

Thanks for the emotional lift, Andy!

I'm looking forward to ordering the new FJ figures, but just on the matter of postage, is K & C finding there to be delays and hold ups with packages sent out to customers due to all the Covid problems ? I am thinking particularly in post from K&C to UK customers ?
Cheers

I ordered some figures on April 2nd 2020 and they were post by K & C on April 3rd 2020 and tracked it today and the parcel left HK on April 6th 2020, will post when it arrives.

That’s interesting.

I’ve wondered if it is still viable to order from HK, what with postage, exchange rate, currency fees and import taxes.

I’d be interested to know if all these costs incurred still make it more competitive than ordering from a UK dealer?

Thanks.

I quite regularly order K&C either from US or HK as does tend to work out cheaper. Though with the recent steep exchange drop, I'll be waiting for it to go back up a bit before I put my next orders in.

Good points. And Are there even any UK dealers that have the most up to date releases ?
Cheers

Hi

The only dealer I know of and I deal with in UK is Magpies in Evesham.

I bought 3 items in the sale and the postage was free,

DD175
was £75 - full price £127
SP54 was £109 - full price £152
WS210 was £43
- full price £72

Savings were around £123, but I have to see if I get customs charges as sometimes I do and sometimes I do not, either way not bothered, always a bonus and I never mind paying it, as firstly it is the law and secondly these taxes pay for the nurses, doctors and other public sector key staff which are taking care of us in the current and other crisis.

Got my order in for the M14 Marines and a couple of others, this time from a dealer in Italy TSR, worked out good for me in the UK despite the not great exchange rates and hopefully will get them next week. I've bought from them several times before and even got my Centurion Tank from them, as at the time it worked out £80 less than getting it from Magpie in UK who I've also bought from many times.

Probably be best to quarantine them for a few days before opening now though I guess !

With ‘VIETNAM’ being one of K&C’s most popular modern ranges rarely does a month go by without some addition(s) to this contemporary series. Here is April’s...

VN070 “The M14 Marines In Action Set”
The M14 Battle Rifle
, for only a decade, was the principal US Service rifle before being replaced by the lighter, smaller-caliber M16.
During that time however many experts considered the heavier, 7.62mm firing M14 the best rifle to ever see service with the US Military.
Originally designed for war in Europe alongside other battle rifles such as the Belgian / British FN Self Loading Rifle (also using 7.62mm ammunition) the M14 had its ‘Baptism of Fire’ in Vietnam.
Within the US Armed Services the USMC was particularly fond of the rifle because of the Marines high value on marksmanship and battlefield reliability.
All of the Marines that were deployed to Vietnam in 1965 and 1966 were issued with M14’s and found them to be excellent weapons in combat with many fine characteristics even in the most difficult of circumstances and conditions.
Indeed it was, with great reluctance, that many Marines exchanged their tried and tested M14’s with the early M16’s. Many unit quartermasters managed to retain at least some weapons which were then issued to individual snipers and proved, once more, to be both useful and excellent combat weapons.
This first, USMC 4-man ‘Vietnamcombat set shows a section of 4x Marines in action poses all utilizing their favourite M14’s.

AVAILABLE: Early April

I carried an M14 in BCT,, A lot of Marines died and did not do well with the early model M16s,,trying to clear and clean the things when they jammed at the worst moments,,The 1st Inf went over with M14s and everyone wanted to have the Mattel gun at the time,,same problems with them and I was issued a turn in as a replacement,,troubled,,jammed with the "chrome bolt",,early ammunition etc of course blamed on "improper cleaning",,turning it in I carried a Stevens savage 12 guage and a 45,,until the New 16s arrived,,M14s were treated with contempt to say the sad least,,dusty piles of them in the arms room,,cases of E2 conversion kits stored ,,,sad story for a great weapon,,
