I always thoughr Basil Rathbone was the best Sherlock Holmes and were the best movies.

Basil Rathbone was good too, just down to personnel preference, I thought the film The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, was good, also the Michael Caine / Ben Kingsley comic turn as Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson in "Without a clue" was fun !

Nice British D-Day releases.

Though I was hoping for something a bit more Falklands.

Maybe next month.

No Arnhem themed sets or opposition?

Shame! Then again, British troops could be used for XXX Corps!

I always like Jeremy Brett. Whereas Robert Downey Jr. nearly killed it.

I know it’s a more modern setting but I thought Cumberbutch was pretty good too, as was Freeman.

I would love to collect these, but choices must be made sadly.

The trouble with the Basil Rathbone movies is that the filmmakers made Watson look like a doddering old fool and he was anything but. The Brett series was good. The Downey movies don’t even deserve a mention. The one I liked best is the Benedict Cumberbatch. Simply excellent. Andrew Scott was fantastic as Moriarity. When I now see him in other roles my first thought is Moriarity.

Totally agree, i left that out as it was a TV programme, but it is excellent, i like the way in that version Watson is a more rounded character than in some of the films. Oity there has been any for a while, in interviews both main actors have said they love doing it but there have been too many other film roles which have got in the way to making more.

By the way the Landlady in the TV Sherloch series, actress Una Stubbs, passed away on August 12th 2021 [non COVID], she was a famous actress in the UK for a childrens programme in the 1970s and 1980s, plus in a famous UK film, Summer Holiday, which was filmed in 1963. She had a long and successful career.

Worst Sherlock Holmes goes to Will Ferrell (although I still watched it and laughed).

Really dig the Hound of the Baskervilles set. I have a feeling that will be a home run seller.
