King & Country Glossies (1 Viewer)

I picked up a few SOHK sets from that auction.

There were several nice Streets of Hong Kiong sets, and a bunch of Silk Road sets as well. If I had unlimited space and money I would have bid on a few of the Silk Road sets as well.

Those sets got very expensive.

I just picked up the one regular production King & Country Papier Mache structure I have never owned: the Hong Kong Walled Garden. I had a couple of pieces of it that had been converted into part of a Tet Offensive Street Scene Diorama (basically some bullet holes were painted on), but I never had the complete structure before.

Great looking display with many possibilities. I was curious how fragile these papier mache pieces are and if they require some maintenance?

Al,

For me, at least, I have never had a problem. Mine are all on display, and photos of them appear on threads throughout this forum, and they've held up for 25 years.

I have two of them, which I use for my Arnhem setups, and I’ve never had a problem. They’re very durable and some of the best pieces I own.

I had most of my Streets of Hong Kong items on display on a custom oversize Dockside Quays and Bridge Diorama that Gordon Neilson had made for me when he first started producing custom dioramas to order in 1998-1999. However, I had the smaller, regular production dockside quays and bridge, so when the Hong Kong Walled Garden arrived, I got it and the rest of my Streets of Hong Kong items out of storage, and made this oversized Streets of Hong Kong display. The first three photos, attached to this post, are overview photos I took. After that I let my son take over, so the next few posts will have much better photos.

Some photos of the very early K&C wood vehicles (hand carved in a factory in China, hand painted by Andy and Gordon, 50 of each made -Tiger, Panther, Sherman [25 in British Markings, 25 in American markings]), displayed with K&C's earliest glossy WWII figures, WSS1-6, glossy Free French, US MP and US Airborne figures:

I don't have any of these papier mache K&C buildings, but enjoyed photographing them and wish I did have some. Apologies for the matte soldiers, not resized the glossies yet.

Makes you wonder if there is an opening for someone there .....................

I shrank some glossie photos, taken of Louis' collection apart from one.

Here are some shots of K&C glossy Royal Marines from the late 1980's (taken by Kevin for Volume III of the K&C Book):

Two questions:

1) - Am I right that most k&c glossies are 54mm?
2) - When looking on eBay, how does one differentiate k&c 54mm from 60mm?

Pretty much all K&C glossies are 54mm. They started doing the 60mm stuff when they launched the Arnhem range.
