King & Country HK226 Hong Kong Tramcar (1 Viewer)

It would appear the first batch was only intended for the HK market but with a second batch planned.

It is made of tin (think the previous Chinese gate).

At $102 it will be good value and I have ordered some. Enquire with your dealer if interested as I guess **rther info will be coming. No idea of the numbers in second batch but looks like the interest could be good.

A related question are the figures shown in the photo. I assume part of the set but I can't believe it would be $102 including figures.

I think the figures are from the rickshaw passengers sets and other sitting figures from the series and not included. There are plenty of figures that could be used with it including standing up figures walking to a seat.

Thanks Brett since I don't know much about SOHK but may be interested in getting the tramcar.

No seller's remorse, that's for sure. He sold one for $500 to I wonder who :wink2: and has the other one going. Ahh, it's only money ^&grin
Rub it in Brad, rub it in:tongue:I will have buyer's remorse if they end up making more for $102, the price is super strange since individual figures cost $50??? When I tried to buy direct, I was told they sold out! $500 seemed good with me since they were all gone (not to mention my seller claimed they were limited editions with 48 being made) I then emailed K&C after my eBay purchase and this new discovery from Howard's post and was told "If" they make more they will let me know and hold one for me. This is when the "it's just money" motto goes out the window:rolleyes2:

I was just needling you. Apologies :redface2: I'm sure I wouldn't be too happy if I were you either.

I been driving up and down these streets looking for someone who wants a ride on my new Tramcar. I found someone today, though I had to pay him $30 bucks to ride with me...looks like the same gent Andy was rolling with?

The tram car is now out for general consumption. Treefrog has it up for pre-order.
It looks like the only difference is the number on the car.

Gents,

I have some King and Country double secret probation information to pass on about the HK Tram. It is on the down low and very HUSH, HUSH:

-Were 48 Trams were made for Hong Kong release only?

Yes and why you ask? None of your business and that decision was made above your pay grade, so shut your mouth!

-Are they all tin just like the Super Cool Red and Grey Hong Kong Gate?

Yes, Figures sit in the seats both inside and out and the wheels work too...and shut your mouth.

-Are they are sold out?

Yes. My super secret connection in Hong Kong (I have three) who I will name "Deep Throat Dai Pong Hong Kong" picked up a few trams and sold them on the white market and yes his claims of exclusivity are true...Hong Kong release only. The powers that be can release anything at any location anytime they want...Hong Kong (tram) France (Joanne De Arc), Texas (KX line) and so forth. However, COMMA after purchase any one can sell anything for any price and he has successfully sold a few. This information is true and correct and yes shut yo mouth.

-Is there is another release coming soon?

Yes, and they will be en masse. This statement comes from the Highest Echelon of K&C...okay Andy told me no secret there AND shut your mouth.

-Will the 48...rate...as one of the all time greats...just like the gate?

Either you got one of the original trams or you don't sooooo shut your mouth and stop crying.

-Will there be figures like Tram drivers and the like?

You can ask K&C, but I gaaarunnnteee their will be. Oh, and uh shut your moufFFF!

John from Texas

PS: Mine is in a Vault in the Switzerland with guards.

It' s a ghost tramway.....The driver is missing

Poppo,

Patience brother, patience. I am sure there will be drivers, drunk sailors, passengers and maybe even a tourist. You know what would be **nny if Andy made a figure of himself as a passenger.

John from Texas

I have a few seated figures in mine. they look really good, but you have to place them very carefully! Evidently the ghost tram driver is a maniac and throws them off their seats frequently!

I need safety helmets for my seated SOHK figures! {sm3}

Gents,

Just got the email AND phone call from K&C and Kings X that the 2nd Tramcar is up for pre-ordering. I ordered two.

John from Texas

Other than the numbering on the tramcar, what is the difference between the two? They seem the same color.

I think the number is the only difference. That I see anyway

Hi Guys,

For those interested…the differences between the original #28 and the upcoming one #88 are obviously the tram numbers and the “destination boards” …#28 travels between “Happy Valley” and Causeway Bay” #88 trundles along between “Shau Kei Wan” and “Kennedy Town” . Both colour schemes remain unchanged.

Hope this helps and…many thanks for all those who have pre-ordered.

Best wishes and happy collecting!
Andy C.

Thanks Andy. When I was in HK many years ago, I took a tram that went to the top of a mountain in the city. Is this the one.

Is this being made in unlimited quantities or is it limited to a certain number. Will figures be made. John, no smart alecky comments please.

Even though I don't collect SOHK, I've ordered it. It's rather unique.

Brad,
The one that goes to the mountain is called the Peak tram and starts in Central just opposite the US Consulate. The ride is a must do for any visitor to HK. There is also a bus that goes from Central up to the Peak and that is a **n ride with good views over Happy Valley as you go up. Then take the tram down.

The Tram line this tram would go on basically goes from one end of HK Island to the other. Very cheap ride and if sit on the top get a good trip/view through the hustle and bustle of HK.

Brett

Brett,

The one we took was to the peak. It was back in the mid 90s but it was a lot of **n. I remember going to Pacific Place and someone telling me about K & C. If only I'd been interested in the hobby then!

The building you would have seen at the top completely gone and a much bigger one there now. Even has a Forrest Gump themed restaurant there.

If you had bought some K&C sets in mid 90's you could have sold a few to **nd a return trip now !

New tram seems to be getting interest from people who have not previously bought SOHK.

A sizeable investment indeed. I remember my Mother coming back from a trip visiting my sister (who lives in HK) and telling me about the King & Country store and saying "but it's very expensive" :)
