King & Country Westcoaster 2015 (1 Viewer)

Thanks for sharing all these pictures, it is greatly appreciated!!, I saw that the Chariot K&C made years ago. Is it being re-released. I would love to have this piece.[/QUOTE

No , it's not a re-release. A dealer was selling one and I hadn't seen one of these in a long time and shot a pic. I wish K & C still made stuff like this.

I wish they would!! The Chariot is a great piece.

I could not find if anyone stated what the event figure was? Sorry if has been stated.
Brian

I have to say I was disappointed in the figure that was given out for the K & C event. Two years ago at the K & C event Mike from Sierra announced that on their 10th anniversary of hosting the event they would have a very special figure produced specifically for the event for all attendees. Fast forward to last years show and Mike again emphasized that the 2015 Westcoaster would be their 10th anniversary as hosts of the event and that they were having a show figure made special to commemorate the event. I had been looking forward to this special mystery figure for two years. It really added an element of fun and surprise to the show like repaints and unique show figures always do. So I must say I was disappointed to find out that upon picking up my ticket for the event in Sierra's room and asking them for a hint about the figure's depiction, Myszka said they didn't produce the figure. (The sound you hear is the air leaving the balloon). I asked her why and she first said they couldn't decide what to do (I was like huh?). Secondly she stated that the figures would just end up on ebay 30 minutes after the event ended, and that she didn't think that was "fair". (Not fair to who? That's the question.)
Her secondary response was very telling indeed. Not trying to be ungrateful here, but to tell people for two years running that a special figure is in the works for the big 10th anniversary event that they need to buy tickets to attend, and then further to advertise on their website that the price of admission to the K & C event includes a figure "specific to the event" is just wrong. They sidestepped it entirely at the event itself by not even mentioning the figure touted in the past. Other folks I talked to felt the same as I, while still others were probably not bothered by this at all. But it was a let down for me and should be an embarrassment to Sierra and K & C. I almost had to laugh at the figure I received; here I am at a toy soldier event and the figure I purchased wasn't even a toy soldier! It was Charlie Chaplin! My fellow treefrogger next to my got good 'ol Charlie Chaplin too. I didn't realize Charlie was such a valiant soldier! Bet he's certainly not flying off the shelf at the factory. I hope Sierra and K & C saved money, because it appears that is their paramount concern.

Moreover, not everyone sells their promo show figures, by the way. I've sold and traded show figures before, and kept a fair share of my own or tracked down ones from other shows I could not attend. But I've never thrown one immediately up on ebay. Maybe a year or three later when I've tired of the figure, but even if folks want to immediately list their figure on ebay, what's the harm in that? I've seen plenty of dealers sell show and promo figures on ebay for nice profits. I say more power to 'em, and at least the figure is available for those who really want it. I remember when K & C made four or five special Crusaders available to dealers. They were repaints of existing sculpts, and were very nice and quite popular. Sierra Toy Soldiers must have had a lot of these, because they sold many of them on ebay for nice healthy sums. Just a bit hypocritical, don'tcha think? As long a they're the seller it must be "fair".

I always thought show figures were a good promotional tool for K & C and probably directly correlated w/ more collecting dollars going their way. But it seems that show figures are a thing of the past, which wouldn't be a big deal if handled "fairly". It's funny how your perception of a firm can change on something so seemingly insignificant.

I used to really look forward to what the show figure would be. You know what the whole irony of the thing is? Charlie Chaplin did indeed go right up on ebay. I collect toy soldier not comic actors.

Happy collecting!

Doubt whether we will see this Chariot as I understand there was a problem with damage due to it's finite structure, very elaborate and easily broken. Mine arrived safely, guess I was one of the lucky ones. Sorry for you Joe in respect to the show figure, a let down to be sure. No worries you will be able to make your own soon with a 3d printer.^&grin, Robin.

Joe:

Just curious, what did you get for the figure on ebay?

-Jason

Clearly the Sierra promotional idea was poorly though out... totally understand your disappointment especially as you had to buy a ticket. They could have done at least a repaint aka pmo concept. A poor call by two great businesses....

Without getting involved in this controversy, if anyone has a Chaplin figure for sale, please contact me.

Also, K & C made a Chaplin figures in gloss years ago. Very hard to find and quite pricey so let's give Charlie his due! ^&grin Hey, if anybody wants to sell one of those, I'm all ears too! :wink2:

I just realized the Chaplin is the Club Figure. Was there anything special about the one given out?

I couldn't agree more zulucollector.

Jason,
The auction closed at $33.99, but let's not deflect and infer that that is the issue.

Thanks
Joe

Joe:

The issue seems to be related to the figure as opposed to the event itself so I thought I would find out what it went for on eBay.

Do you think once you found out that there was no “special figure” being given out you could have declined attendance and asked for a refund? I am sure they would have obliged considering the event was sold out (as you probably noticed a few of us had to stand in the back).

-Jason

Jason,

Even upon hearing that the special sculpted figure had not been produced commemorating Sierra's 10th anniversary as hosts of the event , I still had hopes a unique repaint (or as Sierra put it "a special figure exclusive to the event") would be given out as has occurred at many past K & C events. Moreover, the thought of asking for a refund never crossed my mind. I made my commitment to attend long before. It's too bad K & C did not pick up the ball where Sierra had dropped it.
The money aspect of this is entirely irrelevant; it is the overriding principle of the matter that is paramount.
Yes, I noticed a few of you standing in the back as you have in the past as well.

you know even if somebody sold the figures on ebay you know the person selling the figure probably poured their earnings right back into kc toy soldiers. Out of all the figures i got i did sell one, a british officer from indian in a red tunic. I had know interest in it but the $120 i got went right back to big george for more toy soldiers. I guess i am saying to kc keep making show specials as it gins up excitement and interest too.

I also wanted to say that you could sign me up for an arnhem tram too. I think it would be a big hit just like the jagdtiger was
