The Kings own Border Regiment is featured in the May issue of the Standard.

This set was the second limited edition sets of 1992 with 6000 issued. Set 5292 was comprised of a Drum Major and two side drummers dressed in the ceremonial 'Arroyo Drummers' uniform of the Peninsular War.

They commemorate the exploits of the British 34th Regiment of the foot in 1811 against their French counterpart, the 34th Regiment of the Line.At a small Spanish village called Arroyo Dos Molinos, the British regiment captured the complete French Regiment along with their drums. They still parade the drums each year on Arroyo Day. There is also a base drummer, four fifers and two side drummers in present day full dress uniform with white Wolseley helmets and red coats. J

Thanks for the pics John, it certainly is a different set. One I have not seen before.

Thanks once again John for sharing your Brit's bandsmen both the Marines and The Kings Own. You continue to amaze me with collection and the love you show for the hobby.......The Lt.

Yo Trooper do you mind you should be down in the Dungeon with me and Dick, these are nothing to do with Britains today lol.
Bernard.

Just because it's at the bottom of the page -- I don't consider us in the "dungeon". We we're told to go there, because its easier to find (lol).

Yo Trooper, Nah its the dungeon the pitts, all the guys taking about Britains up there in the clouds and none of the sets had nothing to do with them. Will have you know in the British Army the cavalry where the cream and the senior regiments, now we are relegated to the bottom, "Gads Sir" dont know what Lord Cardigan would have made of this.
Bernard.

Hi Guys

As the moderator for the Britains threads I think discussion of Britains sets made from the 1980's till now have a place here. I need to point out that I dont consider these to be vintage yet. There are enough collectors interested in them that I think there is no reason to move this thread to the vintage section So dont worry about where the thread is located just continue the discussion of Britains.

All the best

Dave

Dave: I agree - -I would think all Britains post the 1966 era should be here. But your last comment is the best -- who cares where it is as long as the dialogue continues.

Dick

I would prefer all the Britains to be all in the same threads whether old or new the name still remains the same............... BRITAINS !!!! :D:D:D:D

And as you know I collect em all :p

Those are Modern Britains to me . I think Cardigan was joking though. John what kind of helmets are the drummers wearing???

Hi John, I own this set as well. It's among my favorites. Thanks for posting the photos.

Regards,

Thanks Sam. I enjoy the set. KV- I have no clue but they must be French Drummers hats but I don't know much about the 34th French Regt. in the Pennisular war. If i get a burst of energy I will try to look it up.:D John

The drummers' caps look like fusilier bearskins, which were lower than the grenadiers', weren't they?

Prosit!
Brad
