I really hope this good:

I am a little worried since it is on the History channel, and they f-up history on a regular basis. I am sure they will find a way to work in some post-apocalyptic biker outfits and call it "armor." Still, I really like Renner and the topic, so I am holding my breath and trying to lower my expectations as much as possible!

Knightfall...new series on the Templars

Knightfall is an upcoming historical fiction drama television series on History. Knightfall was picked up for a 10-episode straight-to-series in January 2016, with Jeremy Renner as executive producer. The series is set to premiere on December 6, 2017.

It recounts the fall, persecution, and burning at the stake of the Knights Templar, as orchestrated by Philip IV of France on October 13, 1307. The series focuses on Templar leader Sir Landry, a brave warrior discouraged by the Templars' failures in the Holy Land who is reinvigorated by news that the Holy Grail has resurfaced.

looks action packed...if you like Templars...a must see I think...

My fear of armor and weapons seems to be unfounded. There are some issues, but they are minor compared to what you normally see (no painted sweaters or biker outfits, just zinc plated maile.)

I'm looking forward to this.I also enjoy the Vikings whose new season starts November 29th.

Was really looking forward to this series, but after viewing the first program was very disappointed. It had loads of potential and the trailers looked good, but sadly its nothing special and falls short of expectations.

The Vikings series on the other hand is still excellent and well worth watching!

I agree with you 100% on both shows. No outstanding characters on Knightfall. Superfical, predictable almost feels like an old western set in medieval times.

Knightfall is definitely disappointing. I was assuming it was going to focus more on the historical aspects, founding of templars etc rather than a grail quest show

They could not do that as they wanted to avoid any Western/Christian vs Arab / Islam controversy.

So, they could only focus on the last 20 years starting with the fall of Acre.

agreed...
me and George were talking the other day...
and we both said we were disappointed...
it's kind of cheesy...

Yeah,
This was disappointing. It doesn't have to be historically accurate up to a point but it just doesn't feel like the times.Vikings and Outlander aren't historically accurate either but you do feel like your in those time periods.

Yup, hate to be a giver upper, but after struggling through three episodes (the same three we talked about Mike), I'm out.

Too bad...................

Supposedly based on Dan jones book too. Not sure how as that was a good book and well researched.

After much anticipation, I too share the view that this fails to deliver anything that comes close to the compelling and factual content of Dan Jones excellent book on the Templars...

Knightfall has a new showrunner this year.Hopefully they learned from last years disappointing run.
