You're probably right but I would never say never, as more and more companies and corresponding product comes out in the market there may be a need to find some variety or seperation from the field.
In the past Andy has been unafraid to try some lines that others might think were a little out there and at some point in the future there may be a niche for some diversity.

I hope you are right 'cause I'd really like to see K&C produces Kriegsmarine figures (or at least one, available through the Collectors Club).

I wouldn't dismiss this Kriegsmarine idea out of hand just yet guys as there seems to be some good interest in it. At first glance there isn't much scope for a complete range because the 'required' diorama accessories such as ships tend to be on the large size :)

But remember guys, not everyone sets up their collection diorama style. I have cabinets full of models that are just standing there doing nothing in particular. Most of my figures and models are just lined up in rows facing the front. No, I'm not a traditionalist as I don't have any glossies. I just like to have a vehicle or figure representing something or somebody. I don't always have to have the extras for diorama display. Yes I do like dioramas and I have several but they're not for everybody, and frankly they take up heaps of space.

What I'm saying really is that K & C seems to be catering mainly for the diorama crowd which leaves less room for 'one off' figures. And as Jazzeum suggested some sets could be slipped into the Field of Battle series, such as the Dieppe raid mentioned. There are many more, what about the Battle for Narvik, and Battle for the Atlantic etc. For example I reckon figures or a set of famous U-Boat Commanders would sell like proverbial hot cakes - without the submarine or even the conning tower.

And why stop there, why not get up into the blue yonder with the Battle of Britain etc. There are heaps of sea and air figures that could be produced, and I'm sure they would be very popular with collectors. Don't ignore them just because ships and planes are BIG.

And as nmrocks has said K & C have dared to be different from time to time, the 'Battle for France' being a recent example. Why anyone would want to collect all those French figures is beyond me :) However I have to admit that little Char B Bis looks good in the picture and I may just buy one. It will be my first K & C tank, and not my last if they continue to improve that polystone stuff :)

Re : “KRIEGSMARINE” …

Hi Guys,

“KRIEGSMARINE” I personally like it BUT any kind of ship large or small still ends up pretty big in 1:30 scale. A German ‘E’ boat (Torpedo Boat) in 1:30 scale adds up to at least 1 metre in length (approx. 39 inches). A ‘U’ Boat is 2 metres long (6 1/2 feet).

Bits of ‘U’ Boats could be nice after all ANDREA (Spanish model company) has done one in 1:32/ 1:35 scale that’s pretty impressive. But I’m still not sure of the general popularity compared to fighting vehicles … diorama pieces and aircraft.

But who knows? Worth considering.

Best wishes and… happy collecting!

A while back I e-mailed Andy asking if he could do a series of personality figures for the collectors club with autographed certificates. I know I would personally pay 100.00 for a limited edition say 500 or less with a autograph and figure of a U-boat ace, several are still alive. The same for some air aces and I also thought the "Band of Brothers" personalities would be a good subject for the figure autograph combo, but alas Andy says there all under contract with art houses and the run numbers were too low.
be careful buying your first polystone, there highly addictive!

Thanks for your response Ray, if we can't get famous people I think most collectors would be happy with a 'generic' U-boat Commander :)

I actually do have a polystone vehicle set, it's AK-24 (SdKfz 222 armoured car with 2.5 figures). I recall picking up the display piece in my local K & C shop and the amputee guy fell onto the floor so I sort of felt obliged to buy the set, maybe that's all part of Andy's cunning plan :) Anyway, I haven't regreted the purchase as it's not a bad set. I now have my eye on the Desert Transport and 105 mm to complement it, so I guess I'm on the way to becoming a polystone junkie. Now, if I could only get hold of Rommel's Greif at a reasonable price :D

Some guy at the model contest built this display. I know some of the forum members were talking about just having a coning tower instead of the whole submarine. This one is pretty with an open view also

Do I see a small pinpoint of light at the end of the tunnel????:D

Planning and production take a long time - let me have my dream Brad. :D

It's like I said to my wife once, "My dream is to have a Porsche." She said "keep dreaming."

Dreaaaammmm, dream, dream, dream.......when ever I want you... all have to do is dreaaaammmm, dream, dream, dream..........:D :p

We did get the e-boat from Figarti and some kriegmarines from KC. The size issue really kills the u-boat idea unless someone has a clever idea how to produce one partially submerged to eliminate the need for most of the hull. They used to do that with battleship models. At the very least, a line of U-boat captains and crew disembarking would be nice. It might work with the current line of parading Kriegmarines. And don't forget the many German and Japanese midget subs. The German midget subs like the Molch (Salamander) were just over 30 feet. That would be a manageable size in 1/30 scale.

Hi, new here, not sure about whole range of KM, but U-Boat commander one-off in collector's club wouldn't be bad
