The more well-known and classic the myth, the more Historical it seems.
For example, Greek myths seem more real than Elves & Orcs, who in turn seem more real than a pure Fantasy.

There is a discussion about younger people going into more Fantasy ranges. Maybe what you are doing here will be the happy medium.
