I suppose things come to an end but in my mind its a disgrace:mad:
They are to be retired and replaced by the F-35 Lightning 2 which is 10years away, leaving no strike capability in that time?:confused:
The retirements are based on military objectives and nothing to do with economics, all i will say to that is B***s**t:rolleyes:
Lunacy on a grand scale, i think the government should heed the West African proverb: "Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far."

RANT OVER.

The US Marine Corps is still flying Harriers but if the Navy could get away with it they would be flying Brewster Buffaloes

Just watching this on the news now and there saying its all down to defence cuts surely it would have been wiser to keep them is there not 16? its hardly large numbers.

Expect more crazy announcements in coming weeks and months.. for sure

I am sure they will have strike capability. These things usually take place in phases. The US Navy got rid of the Tomcats a few years ago and I was sad to see them fly away. The Air Force also wants to get rid of the A10 Warthog but it is still very active with Air National Guard units. I believe it was very active in Iraq as well.

Good, bad or indifferent, gotta love the military industrial complex. ;)

The money is needed to spend on the afghan military so they can equip and fire on our troops.

Yes the F-14 was retired but you had a ready made replacement in the more versatile F-18,you didn't replace it with thin air?;)
How are the armed forces meant to this anyway if retired?:
(it may help to turn the sound off or down if you have children or object to swearing;))
