Just saw this big great set on eBay for a fortune. What last stand is this referring to in history if at all?

Just K&C giving a large set a dramatic name as far as I know. The only dramatic last stand I can think of on the Northwest Frontier was the 44th Foot. If the Seaforths participated in the disastarous Retreat from Kabul under General Elphinstone, there may be some historical precedent for it, but not one I am aware of.

Ahhh... that is kind of what I figured. These are great looking sets and I found the original brochure for when released at $400... now on ebay for $3,000!!

I thought it referred to the Zulu Wars. But, I guess not.

The Seaforths did not serve in the Zulu War. The only Highland Regiment in the Zulu War to my knowledge was the 91st (Princess Patricia's) Argyleshire Highlanders, who wore Tartan trews, not kilts.

Very close Louis :salute:: full Regimental name at the time of the AZW 91st (Princess Louise's Argyllshire Highlanders) Regiment of Foot, they did indeed wear trews

Cheers

I think the name shows, even then, Andy's keen sense of coming up with a title that still resonates, more than 20 or so years later.

Thanks for the correction, Martyn, I have the old Imperial set, and should have looked it up and got it exactly right.:smile2:
