I watched this last night and didn't think it was too bad. Not the best movie ever but not the worst either. Might be because I like movies set in a era other than our own.

I had the same opinion. Interesting premise but the characters were not that fascinating. And why didn't they just pitch old Dracula's box into the sea once things went bad?

Pitching Dracula's box in the sea would have made for a 30 minute movie lol.

Everyone of those crates would have went into the ocean the first day. I also wish at the end when the doctor was sitting in the bar Dracula would have sat down across from him as a human and said "nice to see one of my old shipmates"^&grin

They did seem to be setting things up for a sequel. Not sure if it will ever happen, though. There have been a lot of bad Dracula movies, but never really a great one. The Gary Oldman version came close but it sort of sputtered out and became an action movie at the end. I never even understood why Dracula was moving to England. I assume Stoker thought his English reading audience would just like the story better if it were set in their home country. I was in Romania/Transylvania a couple years ago and it's amazing to see the tourist trade in all things Dracula at places like Bran Castle. The last impact of a single book is amazing.

I saw it and thought it was poor. Reminded me of the movie Aliens but at sea. A waste of a decent actors.

With what this movie brought in opening weekend I wouldn't hold my breath on a sequel. It was ok to watch once or maybe again in a couple of years.

At least the new Exorcist movie looks good. I tried to watch "The Pope's Exorcist" on Netflix but it was laughable.

I haven't watched that one yet.

It's awful. I saw "Nun 2" today and it was surprisingly good. A lot of old school jump scares. The plot is wildly implausible and overly complicated, but they stick to what works in horror films. There was also a preview for "Thanksgiving." A holiday-themed slasher movie. A formula that works! I'm not sure why the Hollywood geniuses got away from those. Cheap to make and they earn at the box office.

"El Conde" turns out to be an excellent movie. It's not strictly supernatural, though.

It aspires to be, in part, a commentary on what this murderous thug did to Chile. I was in graduate school in Latin American History in 1973 when the coup took place and it shocked us all. Mind you, I lived in Brazil in 1964 and experienced the Brazilian military coup and this was or seemed far worse. Of course, the amount of people Pinochet killed pales in comparison to the amount of people killed by Franco, one of Pinochet’s heroes.
