Our new late war German Flak 36/37 on late war carriage will be available by late summer. Parts between the various models of the earlier Flak18 and the Flak 36/37 were interchangeable and it was not uncommon for various parts to be "mixed and matched" on a particular example. All models were capable of both anti-aircraft and anti-tank roles and starting with the Flak 36 armored shields could be mounted to provide limited protection to the crew. As the war progressed the German military came to the conclusion that they did not need the mobility that the Sonderhänger 202 bogies and complex cruciform carriage of the Flak 36/37 provided. A simplified cruciform base was introduced to speed up construction of this weapon that was so vital to the defense of beleagured Germany. The Behelfslafette, which literally translates as a 'simplified gun mount' could be used to transport the gun to a location and set up for semi-permanent duty. This made it easier to move than fixed guns but did not require the permanent allocation of an expensive half-track prime mover which could better be used elsewhere. Approximately 1,493 Flak 18/36/37 guns were built or converted to these simplified gun mounts. War time photographs seem to confirm that some of these guns may have been rebuilt using guns from earlier configurations. The simplified mounts are often painted in a simple scheme of overall yellow or even oxide red primer with the gun, with or without the splinter shield often often painted in a different color or combination of colors.
We are offering two versions of this gun, with one clearly being rebuilt. I built a couple small dioramas for each of these, and this one shows a gun being set up in a city center during the defense of Germany and uses our various crew and accessory sets. Look for three new Flak crew sets about the same time these new guns are released.
All the best,
Ken

Great work Ken

Hopefully it will be displayed at the Texas Toy Soldier Show today.

I like it! This new late-war Flak gun would be perfect in my “last stand” diorama which currently uses the earlier Flak 36 gun minis the carriage assembly 😎
