Thanks for looking in. I'm finally repainting this piece after more than 30 odd years!
First bought from Historex Agents, the title was Louis XI and Marie de Provence.
Actually I checked on the web. Louis XI was married to Margaret Stewart and then Charlotte Savoy. None of them are shown in the dress as depicted in this piece!
The closest image I found was a Mokarex piece of Charlotte Savoy in this dress. I suspect that Le Cimier used this as their reference.
The closest dress to this was worn by Anne Beaujeu, Louis XI's daughter. So I am repainting them as a father and daughter pair.
If you want to see the women's costumes from 1037 to 1870 look here for complete 10 volume in PDF and enjoy . This could help all peoples who want to make figurines of women in clothes they realy were wearing L'Histoire du Costume Féminin de l'an 1037 à l'an 1870
Thanks for those useful links. I like to confirm costume references from various sources and then make an educated guess on how to represent the specific figure in all my projects.
I used to buy many tank, plane and figure kits but could not complete any satisfactorily as I could not follow kit instructions. Then I cam across Historex kits and they came without instructions! Trying to figure out all those funny bits was a nightmare until I discovered Napoleonomania and then bought many books in French text even though I could not read them.
So I've decided to slightly modify the Anne figure by adding a veil to the caul headdress. I could have done this in epoxy putty but decided to use a very soft lead sheet cut to square size about 5 cm side. This was glued at the front and the sheet was allowed to drape naturally by its own weight. I painted it white to represent a knitted veil.
Very good idea Blaster, it's more like that, and about the lead foil, good, you are following the pathof some of the most famous
miniaturist, like Mme Josiane Desfontaines or Mr Roger Berdou all clothes were made of soldered lead foils in the 50ies 60ies
Sample here is Mme Desfontaines
