Yes Robin, considering their age and various attempts by early Christians and later muslim invaders, that did their best to erase the art in the tombs dug deep underground, as they also did on those temples on the surface.Amazing how these have stood the test of time, save a little fading perhaps. The dry weather is certainly a contributing factor. Robin.
In the Temple of Dendor in the Metropolitan Museum in New York, you can see similar Graffiti from European and American travelers dated throughout the 17th through 19th centuries. It annoys the heck out of me.Put, Gaius and Aurelia was here !

Yes, you can see such graffiti left by Roman visitors 2000 years ago, in several of the tombs, in the Valley of the King's even today.
