Yes, you can see such graffiti left by Roman visitors 2000 years ago, in several of the tombs, in the Valley of the King's even today.

Funny really when you think of the Romans being tourists, to these very same places which we visit and was as old to them back then, as the ancient Romans seem to us now!

Yes Robin, considering their age and various attempts by early Christians and later muslim invaders, that did their best to erase the art in the tombs dug deep underground, as they also did on those temples on the surface.
Those being largely built of stone, and yet their Royal palaces being built in the less permanent material of mud bricks, and for the most part have crumbled away and leaving hardly any trace of ever having existed.

I saw the graffiti in Pompeii. When it's contemporary it's archaeology,...
Glad so much of old Rome survived. And thanks for making it into dioramas for us to enjoy!

Yes, you can see such graffiti left by Roman visitors 2000 years ago, in several of the tombs, in the Valley of the King's even today.

In the Temple of Dendor in the Metropolitan Museum in New York, you can see similar Graffiti from European and American travelers dated throughout the 17th through 19th centuries. It annoys the heck out of me.
