A first look at some of the pieces of the Legend of Jesse James playset.

Cool! I like the six-horse team stagecoach and the mounted gunmen remind of some toy cowboys I had when I was a kid.

Gary, it's a one of a kind Dreamwish playset that I'm putting together using conversions and color matched figures from different makers. Ever since I read in PFPC about the discovery in the Marx Warehouse records of the parts list for the "Legend of Jesse James" set, it has captured my imagination. Now it's fun trying to put it together as I would have liked it.
Nostalgia Toys came out with a box this year and I picked one up at OTSN.

The bank robbery pictures will be coming soon.

Gotcha! That sounds like a fun project. A guy could go absolutely nuts over Marx "might have beens". When I was growing older (I never "grew up") Marx was the benchmark that I measured all other toy figures against. They even stood up well against early model soldiers from Tamiya, Monograms, etc.

The only one I can think of off hand was a Monster Mansion. They did a demonstrator board using the MPC monsters. There is speculation they would have used downsized versions of their 6" Universal Monsters if the set had been produced. I also think I remember a western set of some kind that never went beyond the demonstrator board.

Joe,

from whom do the converted mounted cowboys hail? I also thought the replicant bounty hunters make decent Jesse and Frank character figures. I hope someone does a set of old west character figures like Jesse, Frank, Wyatt (or a whole OK corral set up), Paladin (nod to Wilson figures for his), Cheyenne, new gunsmoke characters or more detailed injection molded ones or a redo of the metal ones from a few years back, or even the Wild, wild, west James and Artie figures, Billy the Kid, Wild Bill Hickock

Overall, the airfix cowboys are my favorite with great detail and pose variation along with the hollywood cowboy hats instead of the Walter Brennen gallon hats like on the marx cowboys.
