No i havn't flipped. Some time ago Andy gave an interview for a well known toy soldier magazine and the above set was mentioned. I was wondering if anyone can add some details to how this came about who approached who etc. Is this ultra rare etc .
Over to you.

This is ultra rare and the person who can fill you in Louis. This is a set that he has been dying to find.

Andy was comissioned to make the figures from the Les Miserables poster by the producers of the Hong Kong version of the musical. I believe 200 sets were made, most of which were given out at the opening of the show. A few more were sold through Andy's Hong Kong shop. There was a Hong Kong only issue flyer from either 1995 or 1996 which advertised the set (I have a copy of the flyer). Andy still has one set in his offices. This is one of the few K&C sets I need to find to complete my collection (I'm missing a total of 29 figures, from 6 sets).

Louis how far back does your collection go? I was looking at old catalogs the owner of London Bridge Collector Toys here in PA gave me.. They're from 1986and 1987.There were a bunch of marching glossy K&C sets listed. $45 a set. Does your collection go back that far?

My collection (as well as my K&C flyers) goes back to Andy's original advertisements in June and July, 1984. I have an entire room in the museum dedicated to 1984-1995 glossy stuff, from Seaforth Highlanders in action poses with lancers, Royal Artillery, Indian Army, Sikhs and Camel Corps and even a 24th foot Officer in support fighting Afghan Hilltribesmen, Boxers and Zulus through about 14 glossy marching bands to personality figures like Charlie Chaplin, Elvis and the Sgt. Pepper Beatles. Heck, I even have modern Hong Kong Police (complete with riot police and a Landrover), race horses commissioned by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, and cartoonish 90mm St. Andrews Golfer figures.

Hans and Larry have even more of the 1984-1990 stuff than I do (literally hundreds of Seaforths and other sets, often in the special huge Presentation Boxes [of which I only have one - Hans and Larry have at least 10 of these special boxes]) holding 12 mounted or 36 foot figures.

I know I'm a few years late... but I just opened up a King & Country Les Miserables, Set/8 figures.... I'll be listing it on eBay this week, if anyone is interested.

Oh, I'm sure you'll get a lot of interest as it is rare. A winning bid of close to $1,000 wouldn't surprise me.

Let me see if I can post this picture right....

As for the auction, I can post a link to the auction when I list it... if I can't strike a deal outside of eBay for the set by Tuesday, it'll be up then.

That is actually a nice looking set of figures. When I pictured the set in my mind before seeing the picture it was not as exciting.

Sorry, guys! I definitely couldn't refuse the offer... It would have been nice to see how it did at auction, though... After only an hour, the bidding had already taken off!
