Wayne mate,
Out Bloody Standing cobber. I have just return home from the Dawn Service at my local RSL Club and was so moved by the number of people attending the service this year. Estimated crowd was 2,300 and the Club President when he spoke said that when he took office 13 years ago the turn up was 135. Just goes to show that world events and history are having a real effect on true Aussies. Great to see so many children there laying wreaths.
The down side of course was that I have had one too many scotch at the gunfire breakfast with old mates.^&grin
All the best also to my big Dude mate who now resides in the Land of the Great White Cloud (New Zealand) and also to young Toddy. The ANZAC tradition is totally alive and well.
I think I need to lie down.:smile2:
Cheers Howard
Yes Howard off to the march here in Sandgate shortly and will have a rum and milk or three myself and then I have no doubt I will have a lie down as well....all the best.Wayne mate,

Toddy all the best brother on this ANZAC day and remember don't drive home mate after those warm rum and milks.....:wink2: we will never forget our brothers in arms from the land of the long white cloud.Well said Howard.......and a very good morning to you, Waynepoo and the rest of the Aussie mob across the ditch commemorating ANZAC day.:salute::
It was a mug of rum in warm-milk to kick the day off at the local RSA and then a brisk march to the cenotaph.....great to see so many families present with kids in tow all rugged up in warm clothing and quiet as mice.
While driving this morning, heard an interview with several Kiwi WW1 vets recorded a few years ago.......one bloke who survived Gallipoli was asked what did ya think of the Aussies you were fighting with..........he simply said.....'Tough Bastards they were.....real blokes'
Such was the birth of the ANZAC spirit.......{bravo}}
Cheers!!

Howard:
Awesome dude. I should write some stuff about how the New Zealand Mounted Rifles actually won the Battle of Beersheba by taking the redoubt of Tel El Saba. Which actually did allow the Aussie Light Horse charge. But I'll save that for another day. Ha ha.
Keep it silly.

Big Dude Chris mate,
I am with you cobber. Without the NZ Mounted Rifles taking Tel El Saba heights, which was no mean feat, then the 4th LH Brigade charge would have coped plenty of fire from that high ground.
Beersheeba although famous for its LH charge could not have been taken without the combined efforts of all involved. The Kiwis took Tel El Saba and the British Arty (Notts battery) silenced the Turk machine gun positions with great accuracy. Always trying to keep it silly.^&grin
Toddy mate,
Likewise, I would like to see K&C release some NZ Mounted Rifles taking Tel El Saba but also some Brit Arty in the Notts Battery would be a nice back up to my Charge Dio. But then we might see some Brit Arty in the new ME range which could double up.
The ANZAC tradition is very much alive and well.
Cheers Howard
