According to "Napoleon1er" Britains are thinking about producing a Napoleonic gun, limber and horse team in the future.

Has anyone else seen or heard anything about this?

Britains limited release WW1 limber was brilliant and sold out.
Not my particular time period but a Napoleonic version would be very welcome. :)

I say make one French and one British. But stagger the release.

I also want to see supply wagons, abulance and caisson sets for the Napoleonic period.

It's gone a bit quiet at Britains recently. The Hougoumont releases were superb and I have the lot.
We need another mega release like artillery and supports or perhaps Britains should have a crack at a model of Le Haye Sainte.

I would like any Napoleonic buildings to be along the lines of the ACW and Zulu building releases. IMO these are far superior to the Hougoumont piece.
I'm currently trying to construct a roof and additional walls to make it look more realistic. It's harder than I thought it would be but enjoyable.
At least it will give me somewhere to stick the surgeon and his patient out of the line of fire.:)

So the deal is that WBritain wants to make some sets that represent the jusr regular line cav/inf/art for both Brits and French, seeing as these are not frequently produced things. Think of a beautiful but simple French horse artillery gun rushing to the front! The ambulance will be around $400 (with some figs). Maybe more line inf/cav for French and Brits. Ask Richard if you want more info, or want to make sure they follow through with this;)

We have some great things ready for next year already ...units that have not been done...and some plans for other nice "center pieces". It will come down to sorting out our production delays first though. So I hesitate saying what will be out for certain. Hang in there, I am not only a big Napoleonic collector but gamer to - have painted up 25,000 6mm Heroics and Ros figures over the last 20 years with everything from ammunition wagons and ambulances to rocket batteries and Imperial carriages - the possibilities boggle the mind!...Just finished some Dutch-Belgian troops - to add a bit of color and variety to my Waterloo army.

That is great news.:)
I look forward to seeing the new Napoleonic stuff in the New Year.

Interesting to hear that you are also a Napoleonic fan. That is also great news for us Naps collectors.

I also paint minatures and have part built a Waterloo battlefield diorama but in 1/72. I don't think my eyes could stand up to painting 6mm.
I added some Belgian troops as well but I struggled to find any in retreating poses so I made my own by adapting other troops in a "running away" pose :D.

Thanks again for the positive news.

To supplement my Britain Napoleonics I've built a 4-horse drawn French Ambulance and a 6-horse gun and limber of the British Horse Artillery from 54mm Hinchcliffe kits (now hard-to-find). It would have been nice to see the availability these items also in an action pose in lieu of just a standing pose.

I have only recently started buying Britains Naps and have built-up part of a Black Watch square with all the Lancer releases. I would be interested in knowing if another French Cavalry release was on the way.......please.;)

Posted another Album - Napoleonic Collection.....Enjoy.:)

Fort:

I checked out your albums. Your Napoleonics collection is lovely. I have both the Hinchliffe models in your album, still unbuilt and in their boxes waiting for the right moment to be added to my diorama. I hope I achieve the same excellent result you have. I have always found the level of detail excellent in their castings and a joy to build. Thanks for sharing your work.

Speaking of Naps, check out the new print of Mercer's Battery.

Yes these are stunning paintings.
It's nice to see the allied cannon taking some of the glory for once.
A lot of people bang on about the strength of the French artillery but fail to recognise the strategic use of the British/Allied artillery at Waterloo.
Wellington saved his cannon for up close and personal use on the French infantry and cavalry knowing that he could not "out-pound" the French artillery.
These artillery guys must have been unbelievably brave to actually stay outside the relative safety of the square to fire on the advancing French.
I understand that some of Mercers battery actually stayed outside the Brunswickers squares during the cavalry charges to give them maximum support as the young and inexperienced troops wavered under the relentless wave of cavalry.
Outstanding bravery.

Mercer thought the Brunswickers not too steady and his gunners did indeed stand by their guns throughout the fight. I think there is a marker on the battlefield to the battery.

The six horse team was the most complex to build, but the end result made it all worthwhile. Greater effort went into getting the proper shading on the horses. I replaced the provided chains for the horses and cannon with a lighter and closer linked variety which I got from ModelExpo at www.modelexpo-online.com
