Let's Talk Crusaders (1 Viewer)

I still believe that the JG Miniatures Walls are the best to be used with the KC Crusaders and Saracens.
The Saracens were defening a city /city walls and not a castle.

The barzso is more like a castle in the european medieval sence.
Still I'm tempted to buy this castle... love the design.

I agree! The Barzi - allthough super - is more european style!

I have (see: http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4094&highlight=templar&page=3) - used the JG and find it very suitable!

Yes - we definitely designed the castle based on mainly English castles.. but I would think since the Crusaders were European that this could stand in nicely as a crusader castle rather than a Saracen castle.

Anyway - thanks for all the positive feedback on the castle.

Jim,
I too think the JG Miniatures Castle parts are more reflective of the geography of the Middle East. I have seen some pictures of the Templar castles in Syria and they look very European. So I guess it would be a matter of who is defending what castle at what time cause they were all occupied by each side at one time or another.

I was watching the History Channel last night, a program called "Engineering an Empire." The program addressed the first "East West" conflict and how that conflict has continued to this day. The Persians vs the Greeks. Its a great series of programs.

I'm certainly no expert - but from what I've seen there are a lot of examples of European style castles in the Middle East. It's certainly something that I have an interest in learning more about. - Jim

In the current range of KC it is the crusaders who are attacking.
So they should attack a Saracen City.

I do agree that later there were Crusader/More european castles build, but the main goal was to defend the city and city walls. Cities like Acre and Jerusalem.

The castle would work for figs. like the Joan of Arc limited editon fig. as would many of the crusader figs in a european setting.

Is the Saracen seige tower different then the European version? Otherwise, how can you tell who is attacking? I would imagine the attacking and defending sides would both have catapults, or is that European too?
