Hi Guys,

Here is the latest ‘variation on a Normandy theme’...

In this particular case it’s Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s visit to Normandy on the 22nd of July, 1944 when the PM met up with Monty and took part in the liberation of a small town.

Despite suffering through 4 years of German occupation and then almost 6 weeks of bloody fighting all around them some of the residents of this little hamlet are still happy to see the arriving British ‘Tommies’ and Churchill himself!

All the best,
Andy

P.S. Tomorrow we see the scene in the hamlet a few weeks before when the Fallschirmjager moved in.

I took advantage of the end of the run promotion to buy some of the figures and vehicles portrayed, and i'd like to see some other figure like DD175 (the Tommy of the 3rd Div, 8th Brigade, hugging the beautiful girl)! Hope something of this kind is in schedule to be released! :)

Looks great, but a bit too packed, I have all the British DD figures and we need more, whether attacking or at rest figures. A series of dedicated Paras for Pegasus Bridge or the Merville Battery attacks would be great.

Esp. like the inclusion of the civilians. French flags are a nice touch as well. Another fantastic scene.

Can you imagine what those poor people, suffering under Nazi rule for years, then hunkering down while the fighting raged around them, must have felt at that moment? The elation of liberation is captured wonderfully by this scene! Great job Andy!:salute::

yes, for scenes like this we need more Civilians, a French Policeman 'le Flick' is missing, come on Andy!

With apologies my friend...It’s a ‘Liberation’ scene...it’s meant to be ‘a bit too packed’.
All the best,
Andy.

I believe I see Eva Braun and Traudl Junge in the crowd! Eva must have made it out of the bunker with Traudl!

Maybe Churchill is going to do a 'Wellington' and try to chat them up? I like the two female figures close together, the Nun and shall we call her 'A lady of the night'.

That statue must smell, as it was where the German was having a poo, while now the Tommy is weeing or is that oui-ing.

I love this dio and its versatility. Wonderful work Andy!
Thank you for your great pictures.

Joe

Great! Then please also Peppone and not only Don Camillo as on the example.

Best

Günther

Sorry Gunther...Don’t know either of them!
Andy.

I believe it Andy! They are two characters from Italian post-war movies, a kind of comic rustic 'cold war' between a priest and a communist mayor, very localized. Despite this, two great actors of the time!
cheers
Carlo

More civilians would be great!

Maybe with no berets so as to be used in any scenario - France, Belgium, Holland.

Civvies giving the victory sign and bringing fruit and coffee to allied troops.

Even dead civilians would add some more realism to dioramas. They really paid the price during ww2.
