Library of Congress: Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand (1 Viewer)

Although a couple of hours left (depending upon where you are{sm4}) I am surprised no brand thought to release an assassination of Archduke set.
I know you mean one of the matte manufacturers but traditional glossy maker William Hocker did do a very good assassination set, vehicle and all. It contains 17 pieces and lists at $400. -- Al

I'm surprised too but I will be pleasantly surprised if we get one.

It's amazing how short some collector's memories are. Yeomanry Miniatures produced a set of the assassination early last year. There was an extensive discussion on this forum about the original car including several photographs. The set shows the Archduke slumping back in the car with his wife laying across his knees, the driver with one arm raised to protect his face, one officer turned in the front passenger seat and another on the near side running board. Princep, the assassin, standing to the side with raised pistol. the set can be purchased either painted or in kit form. Trooper

Quite right, my set is now sitting with my good friend Clive in England awaiting its journey to the US! I am eagerly awaiting it too!

Trooper,
Thanks for the info.
Found the set at post #303 in the Yeomanry Miniatures thread and the posts you refer to were made in Sept 2012.
Seems Yoemanry were well ahead of the game and may be the only ones to make this set.:salute::. However now is a good time to mention their version again. If I was them I would be posting image again in their thread as a reminder as have to go back a few pages to find it.

I saw the Yeomanry set in person and if I hadn't already committed to another bunch of items at the show it would be on display here. It is a very well done set and is a must have for any serious WWI collector.

I just saw the set and could be a possibility, maybe a project for John (Beating Retreat) ^&cool

However, one technical comment that I've noted in some discussions of the event: the car had no reverse gear (this was 1914 after all) so when it took the wrong turn into Franz Joseph Street, the engine had to be turned off and the car pushed back into the main street, the Appel Quay, and in this confusion was when the assassin struck.

Hi All

Many thanks for your comments about the Yeomanry Miniatures set of the Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand on this the 100th anniversary of the event. I am re-posing the pictures of the set on the Yeomanry Miniatures thread under "other Glossy Manufacturers" for all to see.

Regards,

Yeoman.
