If one wants to display a group of the mounted WWI Australian Lighthorse Troopers and avoid the duplicate horse-pose of the Squadron Flagbearer and the Red Ensign bearer, would it be correct to use the newer Flagbearer with the blue Australian Flag?
Which Australian Flag was correct for the Bersheeba Charge, the red or the blue?
Thanks for any info.
Konrad

Konrad mate,
The Red Ensign (AL07a) would be the correct one to be used for any LH dio around the time of 1917 Beersheeba. The other Flagbearer (AL07b) which is my avatar is the Regimental colours of the 4 LH Regiment (blue/black) with the "A" for Anzac on it, only issued to Regiments which served at Gallipoli.
The current LH flagbearer (AL26) has the current Aussie Flag but this flag has no relevance to the LH in Palestine. Hope this helps.
Cheers Howard

Thank you very much, Howard,
you answered it all :)
Much appreciated.

Guidons and standards were not carried at Beersheba. When K&C were asked why they produced such an incorrect figure the response was that "Customers like them but you don't have to buy them". So, if you want accuracy, no flags. If that is not a problem for you why not buy both?

Trooper mate,
A small correction. Flagbearers as depicted by the K&C figures were as you posted not a Beersheeba but each Regimental HQ did carry a pennant to denoted in the field the position of the RHQ and its CO. These pennants were similar to the K&C Flag but not as deep and longer in length. For a reference to colours etc. try www.rfd.org.au/site/light_horse.asp
The Red Ensign althought not carried into battle was available for ceremonial duties.
Personally, as a student of that period of Aussie WW1 history, I really don't mind that much about the changes by K&C. Just happy to get the range produced. For who else but K&C would take such a punt into this era of WW1.

Konrad mate,
Also one correction to my earlier post. The Pennant of the 4LH was two blues not at I mentioned blue/black. That was the colours of the other Regiment astride them in the Charge. The 12th LH a New South Wales State formed Regiment.

Cheers Howard

Thanks for the enlightenment, guys. I had no clue why there were so many different flags. By sheer luck, I guess, I bought the one I want - at least for now.

This is a fantastic series, and many thanks to K&C for giving us this great line. I hope there are more figures to come!
