Lincoln Memorial Vadalized (1 Viewer)

Saw a report of paint thrown on the memorial. Green paint was splashed on the base of the statue, possibly more. It's being cleaned as I write this.

The memorial was reverred when I was a kid. You were not allowed to run about, speak in a loud voice or wear a hat inside. Park Service maintained order. I visited a couple a yrs ago. Kids running about, laughing, etc, no reverance at all. Park Service officials just standing by. Chris

Love the Lincoln Memorial, one of the best sites in DC. It saddens me to think that it was vandalized. He was one of our great if not the greatest president this nation had the fortune to have. To me his memorial is sacred ground, just like all the battlefields where our soldiers fought and died on.

Back in the 1960s the monument was vandalized with racist graffiti.

Geeeze! I really like the Lincoln Memorial.
