Hi all,
Here's the list of pre-2009 items that will have revised pricing no later than January 1, 2011.

Regards,

Thanks Shannon

So for instance the BR1 figures will go up by about $5 , The Bulge KT by about $14 at the risk of starting an argument it doesn't sound too bad?.

Rob

Well, for all of the controversy this has caused, this affects me personally, very little. There are a couple of pieces I still want to get that are raised a dollar or two, but pretty much everything else I've either got or wasn't intending to get, so no major dramas.

Anyone else affected similarly?

Thanks for posting the details Shannon.

Shannon...

Just had the briefest of looks at the price list. Now, its supposed to be price increases on pre-2009 sets etc but, on your list you have given BBG21 Jagdpanzer is on as an increase in price I see Yet, It was released in October 2009 and therefore should not be included in the price rise.

Rob...

Thats thinking in US terms the King tiger is £215.95 at the moment in the UK so, it goes up to £234.72 and, then add on the VAT hike and its about £18.77 more than it is now in the UK. I don;t know if people will see this as bad or not?

A few of the NAPs are affected, but those were going to be bought before year end anyway so this price increase has no impact on me at all.

Terry

Another interesting facet to this list is what is not included. A good chunk of the next 2 months worth of retirements? ;)

The winter sniper set is the only one listed thats gona effect me so ill pick that one up before the change :)

Just got the sniper set as a pressie from my inlaws, they came back from the US on the Queen Mary so baggage weight wasn't an issue, so they got me these while they were at it (god bless em!)

You are a fortunate man, Rob. That is one generous set of In-laws you have there. Congratulations.:) -- Al

There are a lot of nice sets on there. My list of what I would pick up are (if I didn't already have them):

Welcome to Bastogne (the Andy set)
Combat Photographer
Radio Group
Churchill
Over There
Every EA (I'm partial to them)
RAF Sergeant

Well mate- as an Egyptian collector, we are taking a pretty good hit- the Cleopatra guards are up $9 each, banquet guests up $20 a set. The two big sets are up almost $24 each.

Perhaps he intends on retiring some of these very very soon (like tomorrow!!)

Here is a look at the percentage price hikes of some K&C sets.

MG011 Lt w/ Sten Gun

Current Price = US $29.00
New Price = US $32.00
Up by 10.3%

EA009 Advance under Fire

Current Price = US $89.00
New Price = US $119.00
Up by 33.7%

NA085 Scots Grey Charging

Current Price = US $59.00
New Price = US $79.00
Up by 33.8%

FOB020 German Kubelwagen Set

Current Price = US $95.00
New price = US 129.00
Up by 35.8%

HK046 Traditional Chinese Bench

Current Price = US $6.00
New Price = US $9.00
Up by 49.9%

HK143 Street Toy Stall

Current Price = US $89.00
New Price = US $145.00
Up by 62.9%

The price increases appear modest for some ranges, intermediate for others and pretty substantial for others with intra-range variability. I have not made calculations for each and every set, but it looks like SOHK collectors are in for a good whipping, if we do not buy up by year end. That said, I shall not yield to a forced pace of buying within a 2 month timeline, so I shall most likely dump SOHK for good.

Price increases are a fact of life, I can accept that... but this comes on top of a year that has seen us SOHK collectors largely neglected ... and in recent times fed on a diet of lamposts and vague promises. The only consolation may have been to gradually 'fill the void' with sets that have not yet been added to the collection ... but now there's the pressure to grab them before a substantial price rise.

I've got a few pieces on order but after these arrive there is really only one more set that I'd really like from the SOHK range that is currently available. If there's nothing new in this series in the next Dispatches and no definitive news on when this ever elusive Pirate Junk will be coming out I'll be ending my flirtation with K&C (probably toy soldiers in general) and move back to collecting militaria.

It's something that I have been thinking about a lot for the past few weeks. Not an easy decision because I really like all the K&C stuff and I think that both the product and service I have received from the company has been exceptional. But, right now there seems to be very little incentive for me to continue collecting K&C. :(

Very good point

Luckily, there's only a handful of the AE that I want from this lot. I suppose as they've been around for a good few years (one of the attractions of the range), they are going to cop for some of the greater price hikes. I'll be picking up the bits I need in the next month or so.

Thank you Al, I count myself very lucky, they are very generous indeed.
