Rob's earlier, jocular exchange with Konrad has rather back fired. When we arrived at the show we were informed that this would indeed be the last show to be held at the familiar venue of the Royal National Hotel. The December show will be at The Business Design Centre, 52 Upper Street, Islington, London N1OOH and will incorporate a Scale Model show as well. Guideline Publications, who host the show, obviously want to promote some of the other magazines from their extensive and varied stable. The news was received with considerable misgivings by both the traders and the regular members of the public. Several of the latter said they wouldn't bother attending. Most of the traders said they would give it a fair try but were apprehensive that an influx of Teddy Bears, aircraft and marquetry etc would drastically alter the show to the detriment of it's present ethos. For them, of course, it means a whole new procedure for setting up, of loading and unloading, parking and general access to the venue. These may seem petty problems but anyone who has taken an active part in a show will readily understand how annoying and frustrating they can be. It all adds to the stress of the day. Today's show was quite good, not as many people about as previous but all who attended seemed to be enjoying themselves. The UK platoon were doing their best to make sure the bar takings were normal. Will post some pics when I have sorted and resized them, although my feeble efforts will be put in the shade by the rest of the crew who are far more accomplished in that field. Let's hope the new venue is good and the show a success. Rob's already come to blows with Steve and Bob as to who is going to break in the new barmaid. Hope to see you there. Trooper
