Great job on the photos guys. The show did seem a little quieter than usual, but that could just be down to memories of the December Show, which as ususal, is the busiest.
Got in early, to prevent Rob from buying up everything (although he had his movements somewhat restricted after 10am
)
I'm glad that Jeff, as ususal, has covered the glossy G&D categories (beautiful terminology Jeff
), as with half of them, I'd have no idea what I was looking at.
I managed to get £200 down within 30 seconds of walking through the door, due to good tactical positioning by Clive and the Grey Goose stand. Obviously, Rob had beat me to it with the first purchase
, but got the second Sherman Crab (not Carb
) / Flail. I expect these will go pretty quick - production run of 100, rather than 130 as per the M16 and JS2.
Got a quick scour round the two halls prior to the main opening.
Plenty of Treefroggers in attendance, notable in his absence was UKReb, due to selecting a holiday, rather than fulfilling his dutiful commitment of attending these events. As well as Clive (Lurchio), Tony N and Dispatch Dave were manning the K&C stand as normal (or rather Sue and crew were doing the work, while the boys were mincing around and topping up their tans under the artificial lighting
). Dave and Mark from TM Terrain were in attendance, with, as you know, John Jenkins in attendance. I think I saw Alan(Trooper) hidden away playing with Mountford Miniatures kits.
Rob (shock, horror
) managed to make it, as did the usual suspects, Jeff (aujj65), James (Eazy), Andy (UKBod - fresh back from also topping up his tan), Martin (Evzone), Glyn (RAMC) with reinforcement, and out of the depths, even Mr Elliott managed to drag himself to the show. I saw Martyn (GICop) scurrying around purchasing obscene amounts of Trophy goods ( he really is rather good at tracking those down ain't he?).
Had a great time providing financial advice on show aquisitions to Andy and James. Find it's a lot less painful getting other people to spend their money. Good to see that Andy in particular, buckled like a cheap deck chair on his 'no card use, cash only' policy, within about 2 minutes of announcing it. And, he will of course, end up getting multiple subs so that Otto has something to command.
Interesting twist of fate in relation to Rob's show activities. Not entirely convinced of the wisdom of putting him the other side of the K&C stands, but I'm sure the stock check will reveal any discrepencies. He did leave early, and was wearing his extra large mac, so......
The 12.30 midday Treefrogger refreshement break turned in to an all afternoon break. Good to see Kevin showing that he's prepared to flaunt the latest fashion trends and go full on with the silver beard look. It works for George Clooney, so you go for it sunshine
.
Picked up:
- Crabs, from Clive
- Desert buildings from K&C
- Couple of Ancient Egypt pieces from K&C (oooops, there's another range started
)
- Some accessory bits from JG Miniatures
- Couple of odds n sods such as Del Prado figures, for conversions n' stuff
- Couple of 21stC bits for the kids to keep them quiet and
- 2 Shermans, which I'll post about seperately to see if anyone has any knowldge as to their origins.
All in all, a chilled out day, less frantic than December and very enjoyable. Great seeing the Britfrog Pack again, and looking forward to June.
