One weekend a year (third weekend in September this year) hundreds of buildings and structures that are never or rarely open to the public throw open their doors for free to the public for two days as part of the Open house weekend. This year we are going on a tour of the Bank of England, Banqueting House, a river tour of the Thames hosted by architects who will be talking to us about Thames architecture past and future, Thames barrier etc. But for me ( if not the wife!) the Jewel will be a ticket to the deep level Bunker in Neasden. This very deep built and large shelter was used by Churchill and was designed to house hundreds of others. This bunker system is rarely open to the public so will be very interesting to see and I'll post some pics of the visit.

Dude:

That sounds awesome. The Churchill War museum was cool as all get out so I can't imagine what that bunker must be like. Hopefully your trip doesnt include running into any looters. Wow man, London sounds like its been a rocking place for the last couple of days. Its crazy to me how anarchy can bring out the freaking worst in people. Two wrongs dont make a right regardless of race, religion or creed. Considering how old most of the structures are in London, having a 5 alarm fire is a whole different bit in terms of seriousness than it is here in America.

Safe travels Sir Rob, and make sure to have a few pints for me. Stay away from that Tetleys though, that stuff is dog crap.

Keep it silly.

Rob mate thought you meant your house,a tour of the "padded cell' with a Gin and tonic, then some mushy pea,s on toast with a poached egg with worchestershire sauce and a pint.........mmmmmmmmmmmmmm..........^&grin^&grin
