London Show 5th December 2009 Photo's & Report (2 Viewers)

Rob and Jeff you both did a great job with the photo's.
First show I was at and thoroughly enjoyed it, it was great putting some faces to forum ID’s and had a good laugh meeting up at the bar .
It was a great opportunity as well to meet and have a chat with Clive from Figarti and the K&C gang. The two WWII show figures from K&C and Figarti were great
Thanks to the Nevilles for hosting the K&CUK evening which was very entertaining with Rifleman Harris from Sharpe giving a lot of insights into ups and downs of life on Sharpe over the years. The buffet and drinks were very welcome. Andy fielded questions from the audience and was fired up about possibly doing the ‘Chosen Men’. The green uniforms did look pretty cool.
Besides the cool Figarti and K&C displays, I was able to see up close other mfgs that I am less familiar with and see first hand what they had to offer. One piece in particular stood out for me and that was the First Legion TER006 Plancenoit European Village House 2…nicest diorama piece that I have seen since the Berlin Tenament…, the other nice diorama piece I really liked was from Frontline which was a 3 piece trench set, which looked really good on display..Thomas Gunn had a nice mortar set and they were other little pieces I picked up like 2 glossy mules, and some painted TSSD wounded and dead germans.
There were exquiste St Petersburg figures , I stopped my wife in time who was about to pick up a Roman Chariot for a closer look …She then asked the price and was gobsmacked to hear it was over £3000. You break you pay haha .
The Mountford horse drawn artillery also caught my eye..The variety was excellent, with Egyptians, Aztecs, lineol WWII sets, and a series styled on the streets of hong kong except it was the streets of London. The other interesting unusual display was the American civil war gunboats. There was much more ..its surprising what can be packed into 2 halls. Highly recommend attending if you get the chance..just a few pics in the hotel room..stil haven't figured new camera out yet:eek:

Totally agree, well done guys, brilliant!

Regards John

Many many thanks to our TPT (treefrog-photograph-team). I was at the show- but to discover all the thousands of figures, it seems even better to enjoy your brilliant pics than to be at the show :D:cool:

thanks again !

The more pictures, the better.

Best Wishes, Raymond.:)

Thanks to all those posting the London show pictures. One observation that I have is that the big shows are becoming more and more diorama based. This seems to be a trend for the hobby. More opportunity for manufacturers to focus on realistic-looking scenic products as well as figures. I like this trend as I am a diorama focused collector, but at the same time, this is not to say that a single figure display cannot stand out on its own... I have some of those in my collection as well.

Thanks to jeff and rob for a great report, i actually had feelings of great expectations going thru the pictures wondering what i would see next. I love trophy figures and i saw the table of trophy turkish janisaries which have alluded me for a while and i was wondering if you knew who's table that was. I know not alot of people collect the napoleonic egyption series but as they say there is a seat for every b rear end. So it would be great if i could relocate that set to iowa . Thanks

A tip of the hat to Jeff and Rob and all others who posted pics and otherwise contributed to such a thorough recap of the Show. I almost feel like I was there.

And that coverage is why I really enjoy Treefrog. Where else could I keep abreast of the hobby in such a complete and entertaining way?
