Lone Star Germans Group 11 Restored.JPG

I have just finished restoring these WWII Lone Star Harvey Series Germans that I purchased off e-Bay last week. To give them that extra sparkle I created a backing card in MS Power Point. I think it sets them off really well and reminds me of the same set that my Uncle bought me for Christmas 50 years ago.

Cheers

Ian

Great work, I had around 20 of these many years ago, still my have a couple somewhere. They came in 2 colours from memory a Grey and light Green. Brings back memories as a kid a bought these every year from Kim The Toyman who had a stall at the yearly Adelaide show grounds. Oh to be ten again, thanks for sharing, cheers, Robin.

Scott,

eBay Advert LS Germans.jpg

This is what they looked like in the e-Bay advert as you can see there wasn't a lot of paint left and the soldier surrendering has a broken rifle and no flag, I fabricated both from Tamiya resin filler stuck them on with cyanate super glue and painted them up. The same figures were produced by Lone Star in a much lighter grey plastic and called Africa Corps

Here are some that were sold on the Vectis Auction site last year they fetched a good price, I plan to reproduce the above with some I again have just bought from e-Bay. I'm currently painting these figures with Humbrol and Revell enamel paints and then dipping the finished figures in Johnson's Klear or Future (as it is known in the States) acrlyic floor polish to give them a hard shiny coat and protect the paint. Has anyone got any better ideas of what paints to use?

Thanks for reading,

Ian
