I'm at bike week in Sturgis S.D. and haven't been able to check the forum so I've been going through withdrawl. I finally found someone with a laptop who let me use it for a while. This should tide me over until I get home.:D

Greg: That is a long trip on a bike. How is the weather traveling ? I imagine they have a large turnout. John

John, I just got back and what a trip. The weather was good for the most part. We only got rained on once and we heard reports of softball sized hail at the rally so I guess we got lucky> We got to go on some private tours one to the top of Crazy Horse and the other to the top of the heads of a national monument but that ones top secret. We did a lot of riding and saw some really neat things. The landscape is incredible over there. I went to the Little Big Horn battlefield site and I met a descendant of one of the chiefs of the battle. He told me some really great stories and autographed a book for me. I can't begin to describe how tired and sore I am now though. I'm going to relax today and catch up on some Forum reading.

Greg: That sounds like an interesting area. I wonder how long it would take to go to Big Horn and the Black Hills. I never been there yet. Probably a 12 hour or more drive. I can't do it on a motorcycle. Glad your trip went well. John

Hey Sage,

What type of bike do you have?

My wife has been to Sturgis before we got married. I haven't been yet. Last summer we jumped on our Harley's and rode from Charlotte, NC to Key West, Florida and back in 7 days. We rode just over 2,200 miles. Since I have the factory seat on my bike, my butt hurt for a couple of days even after we got home! My wife has one of those really nice Corbin seats on her bike, so it didn't affect her. In June of this year, we trailered out our bikes to Arizona and rode our bikes around the Grand Canyon. What a blast that was! Great riding country. We did make the mistake of one day riding to Las Vegas. When we went across the desert, it was between 2 and 4 PM and the temp was 125 degrees! We thought we were melting! Won't make that mistake again.

I have a 2002 Hertiage Softail. My wife has a 2002 Dyna Low Rider.

I have a 2006 softail deluxe and a 69 Triumph chopper bobber for tinkering on and zipping around town. The scenery and riding in the Black hills and Wyoming is incredible. I usually go every other year. You can go through spearfish Canyon at different times of the day and get a different view and ride every time. I rode this year and didn't trailer so my butt was sore regardless. It was about 1,200 miles one way from Michigan where I live. We averaged about 250 miles a day taking in the sites. I love riding out there. There is so much to see and do. The ride back wiped me out this year. I'll probably ride to Chicago for the show this year to prevent me from buying to much:D
