Lieutenant Nevill Josiah Aylmer Coghill was born in Drumcondra, Co. Dublin, Ireland on 25 January 1852. He died with Lieutenant Teignmouth Melvill trying to save the Queen's Colour from Isandlwana on January 22nd 1879. The men crossed the Buffalo River but lost their horses and were eventually killed by Zulus. The Colour was swept away by the currents of the river but was later recovered.
