Does anyone know how many of the LW043 were actually produced? "Planned production of 250" is stated but how many really were produced? Best, Tom

I put complete faith in King&Country. When they state 250 I believe it IMO ! :smile2:

Don't get me wrong, I am not questioning the integrity of K&C, but, this is what happened....I preordered from HK the LW043, a couple of days later, I wanted to order more and was told "sold out"....a couple of days later I tried ordering again and was told "out of stock".......and a couple of days later, I was successful in ordering more. To me, that means the initial limit was 250, but maybe someone in corporate thought, hey, we should make more....., comments.....Best, Tom

It means that they intend to make only 250 but if demand is more they will do so.

The origin of this came (as I recall) when the WS 71 (King Tiger) was made in "limited" quantities, as K & C characterized. People took this to mean that K & C were making so much and no more (ala "Strictly Limited") but that was never K & C's intention because it was not "Strictly Limited." As you can imagine it caused a fire storm on the Forum.

Steven Chong then came up with a solution to call this limited production "planned production" so as to avoid confusion that only a finite number were being made.

Andy and others, please correct me if I've misstated the origins.

Wow, I was under the impression that the 250 series indicated 250 pieces made of each item being produced, no more....no less. What gives here ? ^&confuse

I don't want to speak for them but maybe they're just giving themselves the flexibility in case they need more than 250 but that, in all likelihood, 250 is all that will be made.

i hope it is only 250.my normandy version from treefrog will be arriving tomorrow.

Well, I did a little research. It took me awhile but here's the specific quotes by Steven and Andy:

Because K&C cannot prevent dealers from orally telling their v. good customers about proposed production numbers, we could get two classes of collectors, those who know something could be "limited" in production and pre-order it immediately, and those who do not and possibly miss out. In future dealer dispatches, I would suggest language like: "planned production run is xxx number, which is subject to change." This does not mislead anyone, and provides collectors with a rough idea of how many sets are being planned.:)

Hi Guys

First of all, a big thank you to Shannon, Louis, Brad and others too numerous to mention for your support and understanding on this “tempest in a teacup”.

I would also like to thank Steven Chong for his suggestion of “planned production run” – brilliant Steve, that is exactly what I was trying to say but sometimes “I’m too close to the wood to see the tree.”

I promise I’ll be using that term in the future.

Finally a big, wet kiss to my dear friend Njja… all is forgiven!

Best wishes and…Happy Collecting!

Andy C.

For those of you who want to see how this all got started, take a look at the following thread from 2006: http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/fo...Question-about-new-King-Tiger-and-Char-B1-bis

the only limited thats written in stone are the SL's does it really matter whether its 250 or 2,500??? as long as you like it and get it. I have never bought one thing because its limited I have to like it

The vagaries of the planned production are surely clear without the need for explanations are they not???
