Alex, the set fits in very well with the rest of the Normandy series. I love the hedgecutters, and figures are top notch, and as far as the detailing, it is as good as anyrhing else from that time period. A good value for sure.

I like this vehicle and i'm sure it would look cool on display.However the price is a bit prohibitive for me at the moement.I am planning my budget for London in December,and for the price of this i could get the new 250 and some of the new SS figs.Hopefully as Brad said this might be around for a while and i may be able to afford it at a later date.

From an Australian point of view it is even worse for collectors down under.
This is a large SL run (1,250), it is not German, it is a big item so display space a factor and it is US$299. So you really have to be a fan to want ore.

However the additional problem for Aussie buyers is the A$ has suddenly dropped from being worth US 0.98 cents in July 08 to just over 0.70 cents today. That would make the SL A$305 in July prices but $424 today. The A$ is now where it was four years ago which is hard to understand as our banks and financial companies have nowhere near the problems the US ones have.
Collectors also looking at the King Tiger and the LAH band and lots of other recent/coming WWII releases.

I would have to agree it will be around for a while.
Perhaps if it was in Afrika Korps markings with a Rommel figure !

Well Brett you hit it right on the head.There is no way I will be buying it as it is alot of money for something that is not even a tank.I won't be buying anything untill the oz dollar gains alot more on the U.S dollar.So I will just put away alittle each week untill I can buy the king tiger when the dollar gets stronger.Maybe this time next year will be good for me.Simmo.

The Australian economy is in much better shape than the US and a number of other countries. However a lot of foreign companies invested in Aussie dollars as it's a high yielding currency. These foreign investors are now more concerned about the state of their own economy and are selling off foreign assets to cover anticipated or real losses at home.

Based on current exchange rates, $299 US translates into $446 AUS. Ouch!
