Well now that my wife is asking for my Christmas list it has come time to bite the bullet and prioritize. Of course I want everything that is coming out but one does have to choose. I am in a bit of a dilemma about the M26 Armored Recovery Vehicle. The pictures look great and I do want to get it. If I do though this set will be most of my Christmas and there are a couple of other sets that I want that may not be around later. So the question is how quickly do you guys think the M26 will sale?

Just to add a little more information three months after Christmas I will have the money to buy this myself. However it is a limited edition and sometime those sale fast and sometimes they do not. For those of you who saw it at Chicago will this be flying off the shelf or will it be like the SL Sherman that just now is starting to get to be hard to find 2 years after its release. By the way I love my SL Sherman. Well any input would be appreciated

Thanks,
Old Guard

I think its a great piece that many collectors are going to want to have.

That being said 1250 pieces at $299 make it a tall order, and I think it

will be around quite awhile.

Lately we have seen the SL pieces linger, 750 was a nice number that quickly

sold out, 1000 and 1250 pcs seem to take the urgency away from the

collector.

I am unaware of what other collector's intentions are regarding the DRAGON WAGON. Of course that statement does not include the many comments made on this forum regarding future plans once it is released, but the great majority of collectors do not make comments on this or any other forum.

What I am aware of is my personal action to purchase two of these beauties. George at Minute Man has my preorder for two DD104SL'. I am not buying one to keep and one to sell. I am buying two to keep. And when the trailer version comes out, I will purchase two of them as well. I am interested in not only the combat vehicles, but the important and more numberous support vehicles.

How long will it take to sell out this model, your guess is as good as mine and it is as good as anyone else'. An alternative idea is making an arrangement with your dealer to put one on the shelf for a few months reserved for you until your budget allows you to purchase it. Perhaps a down payment or just a good working relationship with your dealer may allow that. If not, sell the wife:eek:;)

Old Guard,

I must let you know that at least for my dealer they have already sold out of all the M26's that they purchased. They have to order more and there were people calling most of the time while i was in the shop ordering those pieces. Well just thought i would let you know what i know at least from my dealership.

Thanks

I already put an order for this item. Will it sell out quick most likely not but you never no with limited pieces.

That's odd Michael. I didn't think you'd be that interested in this piece.;):p

I will be getting it at some point, becuase it looks fantastic and a simply huuuuge beast.

As to it selling out quickly or not, my thoughts are that it may be on the shelves for a bit.

Allied pieces tend not to sell as axis vehicles (generally). 1250 SL sets seem to hang around longer, and the price tag may put off some who would otherwise go for it, purely as it's an SL piece.

I would think therefore that you'd be safe to leave it a few months, although the advice with regards to reserving a piece would seem an even safer option.

Simon

With the price and the economy factor, I think it is a safe bet that it will be around for quite awhile.

I pre-ordered 2 of the M26 and looking forward for the release of the Dragon Wagon. Been waiting for this beast for 3 years now. At last it's coming to fruition. Thanks Andy!

I think this baby will not last.

It looks like a super piece , as others have said though due to price and
fairly high number being made I reckon it will be around for a good few
months . I havent worried about a pre order myself .

I have a feeling this item will be around for awhile too. With the economy the way it is - I personally dont think high ticket items are going to fly off the shelf.

Im afraid you are correct,,as things get worse it seems by the day,,im experiencing order and preorder troubles as we speak

When K & C has produced limited editions of 1,250 in the past, they've both been around for awhile and available on ebay at less than original price. Examples of this are the Panzer Meyer Command Car and the Limited Sherman. Despite the apparent increase of K & C collectors, these have remained plentiful, particularly when the price was approximately $200.

This particular release has two elements going against it: it is big, requiring lots of space (unlike other SLs) and expensive. The argument may be made that prices have gone up, thereby requiring an increase (how much of an increase is justifiable is another story). However, the income of collectors have not gone up, leaving collectors in the same economic situation they were in when SLs were $200.

In my opinion, this one will be available for a very, very long time. In addition, I believe, by mid next year, you'll be able to get it at less than original price (if you're patient).

I want to thank everyone for their advice on this issue. I tend to agree that while this is a great set that it may not move very quickly. I do though like the idea of contacting one of my regular dealers and asking if I can get one reserved for latter next year. I had never thought of that before. Still planning on getting it but after Christmas.

Thanks,

299$ for a single model (+ some figures) is beyond what I'm willing to pay.

When figures were going on for 4 for 85$ (still some are retailing at that price), you could get 16 of those for 340$ (not much more money)... and those 16 guys were all metal... not marble dust mixed with resin... hmmm...

With people losing 10% and more of what they had in stocks... let me tell you that this set will be available for a lonnnnnnngggggggg time !

Cheers,

Alex

I will not be able to afford this at present. The current state of the economy has unfortunately made me slow down with any collecting purchases.

Alex, I hear you loud and clear. I made a point never to spend in excess of $200.00 for any tank. I picked up my sandbagged Sherman on e-bay for $116.00. My $299.00 list price Figarti Tiger was purchased for $185.00 on e-bay as well. As much as i like the new Lee/Grant tanks from Figarti, I will pass, and be content with my $35.00 FOV version, that I detailed nicely myself. I think one of the best values still out there, is the K&C Stuart tank with 3 figures for $89.00. If you are in need of some light American recon armor, I would grab it, because it will vanish soon. As for the newest releases, I think the days of huge profit on e-bay after retirement are over.

I think you've nailed that one on the head.
Which will make it interesting to see if this has an effect on K&C sales.
I have never had any intention of selling any of my pieces (can't bring myself to do it), but it does feel nice to know that they will at least maintain their value, and in all probability increase. If that 'comfort blanket' isn't realised 6 or 12 months down the line, will collectors still shell out the money quite as readily.

It would be very interesting. I think it might do well because of it coming out during the Chirstmas season.

Well, what's your opinion on the detailing of this tank ? It's not at my local shop right now so I'm only able to look at it in pictures. Is the standing guy really 1:30 or like many old releases more 1:32 ?

Have a good day,

Alex
