M31 Tank Recovery Vehicle (1 Viewer)

I was looking at http://www.hobbybunker.com/ and found that ANA002 (M31 Tank Recovery Vehicle) and ANA003 (M31 Crew of 4) are scheduled to be released this July. :):):):):):):):)

That makes 3 tank recovery vehicles in a relatively short time. One very expensive one from K&C, one Bergepanther from Honour Bound, and now one from Figarti based on the M3 /grant/Lee chasis. I really think there are lots of better choices of AFV's to produce.

I got the HB Bergepanther - a very nice vehicle, but passed on the K&C vehicle as too big for my displays and too expensive at $300 vs many other K&C figures I wanted more.

The Figarti M3 recovery vehicle is a very interesting one, but it is based on the M3 Grant, which in my opinion is one of their nicest tanks but also one of their most fragile. Add a crane and I would be worried about survivability during shipping! The assembly and gluing needs to be much better, especially if there are photo etched parts.

I wonder if the the turret with the boom can pivot to the rear. I've seen pictures of it with the boom hooked to the rear when in travel.

There are two pictures of different styles.
Grey Goose in the UK has a picture of the towing gear arranged in the rear of the vehicle http://www.grey-goose.co.uk/productinfo.asp?prodid=244&mcid=0
Hobby Bunker in the US has a picture of the towing gear arranged in the front and a slightly different system than the other picture. The Hobby Bunker picture to me shows a much heavier duty towing system with a larger gearing system http://www.hobbybunker.com/details.cfm?ID=19123&scatID=825

Regardless, I'll be a gett'en one. :):)

Michael:

Yeah, I agree with you it does look sturdier and yes, I have to get it too.

How about the separate figures that goes with the M31? They look like pulling some cable.

Aside from the poses, these figures kind of look different don’t they?

Those figures look to be about the best I've seen from Figarti, and as good as any from any other manufacturer.

Indeed, the figurines are superbe.

Better than the Figarti ones I have, including the ones from the K5

1) I got my M31 and it was worth the wait. A very nice effort!

2) Front or rear? Both. I have combat photos of the M31 operating either way. There were boom support brackets on front and rear. There seem to be more photos of it forward.

3) For customizers - some crews cut off the fake 37mm barrel (I can see that getting in the way as the turret was traversed to move the boom). There were also several versions of machinegun mount added by a few units.

It's a nice looking model  :D

Anybody - I would like to see it pictured with the K & C recovery truck to check out how they go together in a dio.
