K&C tank project-1 10-2014.JPG
OK, I'm notorious for being a fan of the Sherman tank. At the end of this week come a new movie called "FURY" abouta Sherman tank crew near the end of the war in Europe. I got inspired to change the K&C "Easy Eight" to resemble the one used for filming. The M4A3E8 is one of the more accurate Shermans done by King and Country, but it is pretty "basic". I thought the detailing might also add some interest to it. The initial phase was to change the loader's hatch from the split-cover with gun ring to the later oval loader's hatch. Attached is an in-progress photo.

The second photo is to show the initial fitting of the hatch cover and pedestal mount for the .50 cal MG. The hatch cover still needs some details added, but it shows the effect.

Lots to do yet, but I will try to add updates as I go along.

My wife's cousin has two boys that are blond haired and blue eyed. They are at theatre school and played two of the Hitler Jungen s that Mr Pitt shouts abuse at from the Sherman Turret.

Can't wait to see the film.

Yes I agree the new tanks from Knc very "basic" nowadays - no more than 1 hatch opened (except the JagdPanther) :mad:

Nice customisation :salute::

Any behind the scene photos what you used to drill this hole ?

1) For phase 1 which is the change to the loader's hatch I used photos from my own research, plus Jim Mesko's "M4 Sherman Walk Around" and the epic "Son Of Sherman, vol.1".

2) Yes, there are a number of really good production and PR photos available (via Google search). I have been downloading a number of those for use in adding the stowage and such.

I still need to find a 1/30 Sturmgewehr :)

I just got the Sherman for Christmas, it is a beauty. I really like the "all buttoned up look", the ready for action look, is a real plus for me. Of all the Sherman tanks that I have seen and had, this one is the best!, tied with the DD-45. Now, if the Normandy Half-track just would get here, and some infantry with a few bazooka's that I have already have, It can hold a few Cross-road's or more. :)
