Back to the units, you are quite right that Andy did a bit of a "goof" in using the 3rd Infantry Division on "DDay" figures. Note the mortar team, and the two infantry patrols are among the troops depicted in 3rd ID markings. The 3rd never served in the armies in Normandy, but DID see very extensive combat in North Africa, Sicily, Italy (including Anzio), and served with the Seventh Army in the invasion of Southern France and the drive into Germany. The GIs so marked are some of the nicest ones that Andy has done, so we are left with 1) ignore it, 2) "repatch" your figures with paint or decals (goodbye collector value), 3) display them seperately as in combat in the Vosges Mountains or some other Seventh Army campaign.
