I'm thinking the Mahdist and Fuzzy Wuzzys must be close...

I'm really glad to see the new Naval Brigade sailors set (firing with bayonets)...

and I'm really glad to see the new Gordon's set (at idle attention)...

and I still think this is a different pose of the single Gordon kneeling (his gun is much lower) ...although everyone else thinks I'm daft...

he looks different to me....

so now I think John has introduced a formidable "starter force" of Gordons and sailors...that I believe he must be really close to putting out some groups of Mahdist and Fuzzy Wuzzys...particularly the FW's as we have 6 Mahdists from the Khartoum series...I hope so anyway...

Mike,

I didn't get to the show to talk to John, but from what I gather the March show next year could be the time to get excited about Fuzzy Wuzzies!.....Well I hope so too....

Jeff

Mike you just have to let that kneeling Gordon go. Just accept the gun is raised and you fell way better, I know it works for me. Cheers, Robin.

I must be the only one you your side Mike - I think it is a different figure, and I also think he has a mustache, but cannot be sure from the photo you have attached.

March show next year - That could be interesting.

Matthew

Come on Guys-This is an easy one. Mike is absolutely right, and not only is the kneeling-firing figure in the photo new but also the standing-firing one. Both their hands are directly on the rifle w/ the strap hanging loose. On the already released set the hands are holding the strap up against the rifle. John does a similar things in his other series when there are more than one set of firing figures. - Ken

Ken...great eyes and Sherlock Holmes mentality...:D...

you are absolutely right...the standing firing...and to take it a step further...the kneeling firing both have their hands in a slight variation on the strap and stock of the gun...this is an entirely new firing set...

look at the yellow circles...

So three more sets at one a month = Jan, Feb and March next year and then a launch of FW's at the end of March London show????

Jeff

This photo kindly provided by Gazza shows that the new firing figures are clean shaven, while the fellows in the first set have big moustaches.

That's just one of the things I really like about JJD - The variety of figures, not just one guy standing shooting, one kneeling and another loading- that's it. A firing line made up of repeating only three of the SAME figures can be a bit dull. JJD gives us many figures, some only slightly different, but enough to add variety and ''life'' to the display.

I'd have to say I'm really hooked on JJD. - Ken

Just to add, apologies if this has been spotted before..........

The two Gordons at idle attention are holding their Rifles differently and one has his head slightly turned

Cheers

Martyn:)

Martin...you're right...JJ has always done his marching sets in groups of three figures...he does enough variation in the arms, head and holding of the rifle to pull it off nicely...it doesn't take much "dollying" to change a figure...

these Gordons look like they would be posed as sentries around a door or gate...good for me though...

They will look great guarding your Fort or with a little poetic licence, Gordon's Palace;)

Wow Jeff, I had my 2 firing Gordons in front of me when I first looked at the photo and wondered why John had included these existing figures with his up coming releases, I studied them carefully and determined they were the same. Now as pointed out there are some subtle differences, clean shaven and no longer holding the rifle strap and perhaps a slightly different stance on the kneeling guy. Well spotted. Cheers, Robin.

Well...bad news for me...I finally asked JJ if this was a new figure...yet to be released...he said it is the same figure as the other kneeling figure...he said his rifle just doesn't look like it's raised as high as the other because of the angle of the photo...my apologies for misleading everyone...I was sure it was a new figure because of the angle of the rifle...sorry...

Mike, not to worry. But did John mention when the Mahdists and Fuzzy Wuzzies are coming out, it's more than a bit one sided at the moment.

Jeff...I think someone on here said it would be after Chinese New Year (Feb) in another thread...

he also told me that...

but I got the impression that it would be more closer to June...

I think there are a few more sets of Gordons he want to get out first...

I will try to find the thread where this was originally posted...

with the release of the First Sudan War Gatling Gun set...

I hope JJ gives us a 3-4 piece set of dead/wounded Mahdists...

it only makes sense with that much fire power...

maybe two 3-4 piece sets of dead/wounded...

Well, no fuzzy wuzzy's arrived today, sadly. Instead a box arrived from TF with the new Gordon's firing! Again, JJD does not disappoint with these figures...can't wait for my naval brigade to expand next month!

Here is the pic with the latest Gordon's.

Brent...that's a great picture...you got a good jump on your series...I noticed you supplemented with some WB's...I have added some WB's...Heritage and Mane's Marzano to my JJD Mahdists...they all seem to blend well together...I just got the Mane's Marzano yesterday and they seem to match up really well too...I will take some pictures to show them...you wouldn't believe the nice wooden box they came in...very impressive...like a little treasure chest...very cool...

GREAT COLLECTION!!!
